The obvious question that "someone" needs to ask is, what makes this new record different than what Dennis put out already that JY has been disparaging for so long? And the other, of course, is, "What do you think of the forthcoming Styx biography 'The Grand Delusion', available soon from www.TheGrandDelusion.com?" LOL.

I hope all is well.

Here's Mine:

"Hey JY - how are ya man. Long time, first time.. Say.... Why are you such a flaming douchebag when it comes to your band's history? Did you know that without Dennis' hits you'd be driving a taxi or saying "Do you want fries with that"? for people in the greater Chicago area still? Oh and one more thing. How is that coke habbit working out for you. Are you still talking to that mirror-mirror on the wall?"

If they don't allow that one, this is my second choice:

"Hey man - I just LOVE your "Out on a Day Pass" record. That's a serious piece of overlooked greatness there. Tell me, what brand of toilet paper were you writing on when you wrote "On Top of The World"... There's a running bet between Charmin and Cottonelle. Have you ever thought about doing a remake of "Toys for American Boys"? I just know that's a diamond in the rough awaiting the rockness of you Styx GODS.

Gawd, I wish someone could ask your question, Sterling! I would almost listen to this interview to hear their "answer." On second thought ......... no I wouldn't.

All kidding aside I would imagine that general questions and those that are positive about the lineup as it is now will be ones allowed. It would only make sense from a business standpoint. They have a new product to hawk, and to be fair to them....it would actually be refreshing to have something go on without the seemingly obligatory references to the former keyboard player. I may not like how they have handled things but I certainly wouldn't like the constant reminders either.

Hopefully they get out of it what they want.

Peace

Wednesday - November 8, 2006
Styx

Styx, or House Band Planet Earth, as they like to call themselves (and who's going to argue?) is always up to something. Whether it's covering the songs that inspired them as kids as with their album "Big Bang Theory" or refining and keeping their own collection of songs fresh and vibrant, the band enjoys challenges and throwing the rules away with little or no provocation. They are definitely one of the hardest working bands around and seemingly live on the road. So what have they decided to do? They took on the challenge of performing with an orchestra….and we're not talking about a string quartet either. They decided to work with dozens of musicians and a full blown choir. Oh yeah, they're kids too. You're reading this correctly, dozens, make that scores, of kids not only helping add new fuel and fire to their classic songs, but debuting two new ones too. More is located at Styx World.

This assemblage of kids hails from Cleveland, Ohio and has gained much notoriety in the past few years working with Rock performers. Known as the Contemporary Youth Orchestra, they are not only abundant in number, but in talent as well. Another characteristic is very obvious too, enthusiasm and joy, and that not only applies to the CYO but to the guys in Styx, not to mention CYO founder and conductor Liza Grossman. A new CD and DVD, "One With Everything" are being released and James Young (JY) and Tommy Shaw will be joining us to have a listen and let you ask some questions. The DVD begins with Tommy declaring, "This may be one of the most fun evenings we've ever had, and we've had a bunch of fun evenings"! We know this show will be one of those fun nights too.

Join us for JY and Tommy from Styx with some new songs and some old favorites like you've never heard before, on the next ROCKLINE!

a little late to the party Jodes?

wow - you presume to know a lot about me eh? Doesn't infuriate me anyway. My life is not ruled by money or the drive for it. I've been smart enough not to put myself in positions financially where I'd need to be killing myself while in my 50's and try to be hip and cool when in reality I'm a pathetic middle-age has-been. (speaking metaphorically, of course).

Besides I'm sure he'd have a job in his field - just like so many of we college graduates do. I know a lot of college grads waiting tables... and I know a couple of multi-millionaires who barely scraped by high school. What one has to do with the other I guess you can explain to me.

Obviously someone didn't see the LOL at the end of the sentence.

I guess one can't have a sense of humour on here without it coming back to bite them on the rear end.

None of the stations around me are affiliates with rockline anymore. They used to be, but they stopped. Is someone able to record it and post it here?

Pretty much all questions were about the CYO show. No book, or DDY questions were asked or they were not let through anyway. They did talk about Tommy's bowling ally days and started singing "Bowling Ball" instead of "Crystal Ball". Someone did ask who they will be playing wth next year. Jy said that he could not say yet, because he was only 99% sure who it would be.

Well at least we know who it won't be.. REO Speedwagon.. they're booked on the Boston tour!

Well duh.. they know who they will be touring with next year.. Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy. Well for part of the year anyways.

Does anyone know if DP is playing North America after the UK dates? That could very well be the TL/Styx/DP tour brought stateside, which would be a good package deal again..

With DP they're an opening act. They want to headline or co-headline a tour. If everything is as we hear, they will be promoting a new cd for the summer dates and wouldn't want to be limited to 70 minutes. (not that it is all that different from 90 minutes they did this year). Maybe with a decent touring buddy, they could go back to the 2 hour shows again.
