GASP.. I'll be like.. in my 40's!!!!

Feb 11th, 2001.. Sept 30th, 2007

WAY WAY WAY to long!!

LOL! I sure hope they're back again before then!

Or at least I hope we'll be able to see them again before then--but I haven't had any luck in my timing to go see them elsewhere in the last 6 1/2 years!

Got my tickets for Blue Man Group today though!

Are you sure they are playing at all the ones you list above (I think you only removed the festival dates)? They are already playing 3 dates at Rama this summer (would they play Rama and in Toronto in the same season?).

Priceless...STYNX is the 3rd act...The opener...so there will be maybe 1000 people in the light when they go on...maybe 4000-5000 for Foreginer and then the place will be full for Def Leppard.

How many minutes does Stynx get? 45?

You can go home again...Back to the Wooden Nickel Days...

Rajah.. When it's a triple bill,

Foreigner is 1st with 45 minutes

Styx is second with 75

Def Leppard with 90

And Foreigner is only doing about 12 dates with this tour.

Most of the dates are just Styx/Def Leppard, like the Edmonton show. So the selist for Styx may be longer.

But Rajah, do you see people complaining when Dennis does all these rock festivals and isn't headlining and only getting 45-60 minutes?

How about when he did a few dates with Meatloaf a few years back and only had a 45 minute set?

Or when he did that show with Ted Nugent in Michigan and only did 45 minutes?

And if you think Foreigner can draw 4000-5000 people without Lou Gramm and Styx would only draw 1000.. you're sorely mistaken.

It really is not that far (provided you don't go in the Friday afternoon traffic). If I have incorrectly assumed that the people who have attended at Rama in the past were from TO it may because I was wondering who would be attending. Other than Barrie, the surrounding areas are not exactly population centres without the summer cottagers from TO.

I LOVE Orillia and the Rama area!!! I'd give anything to go back soon!! I had a great drive up there and enjoyed going to see Roger Hodgson for 2 nights at Rama!! And of course Toronto is one of my favorite cities :)

While I won't go see this (seen enough of Styx - with and without DDY - doing just the hits), doing tours like this with Leppard and the one they did with Deep Purple in the UK gets them in front of many potential new fans and faces. This is just smart business, period.

The DL crowds were mostly won over by Journey last summer. If Styx can accomplish the same, good for them. Styx getting 75 minutes is about the same as the Main Event tour with REO and Journey. At least with the DL crowd it's not the same faces, since people who would go see Journey or REO would most likely go see Styx. You can't say the same for a DL crowd.

Jodes did have a point. DDY didn't do the Meat Loaf opener for the hell of it. It's smart business. I wish people would get over set length and such - these guys are out there to make a living. You evaluate an opportunity and make the right decision. I mean, think back to your days when you were starting out or trying to build your career. YOu needed exposure and contacts. Sometimes that means sucking up a "lesser" position to gain much more in the future. Is it a risk? Sure. But Styx or DDY wouldn't be where they are not if they didnt' take risks along the way.

It's a new world out there for musicians and bands. People are trying to survive. I don't begrudge Styx or DDY for doing things like this.

I think Leppard with Styx is a very interesting combo. There's certainly not much overlap in terms of their peak popularity. I probably won't go, simply because I've seen both bands several times and think I've heard just about everything they'll play. It's a great opportunity for someone who likes both bands or for the fans of one band to check out the other.
