OT--Chris Isaak in concert

Postby Jazz » Mon May 21, 2007 12:46 pm

I just wanted to let any Chris Isaak fans know that we saw him here in Edmonton on Tuesday and were blown away by the unbelievable show he and the band put on. The band was tight, the sound was good, and Chris' voice is as great as it sounds on record or TV. He's extremely funny and irreverent, just as on his TV show, and the band plays along. They had their first standing ovation about 3 or 4 songs into the show, and though the crowds here were very polite and kept sitting back down so people behind could see, they kept getting ovations over and over. After the show, Chris only signs autographs for people who buy merchandise, but the band was milling about in the lobby, chatting with fans and signing autographs (for free.) The set list included his biggest hits, an acoustic set, and covers of Cheap Trick, Elvis, Roy Orbison and Buck Owens songs. If you enjoy these guys, you should run, not walk, to a show near you!

Jo
With every act of love, the good catches up...

$25. Would you believe I was there for three days and gambled for an HOUR?! The people I went with weren't big gamblers and we had a Vegas virgin with us, so we were doing a hundred other things. We did check out all the clubs at the Palms, that was pretty cool. Oddly enough, I found out after the fact that Chris Isaak was performing 15 miles out of Vegas. Grrr. Also, the VH-1 Rock Honors were being taped the Saturday night we were there. I wanted to go down to Mandalay so bad and just celebrity scout, but I was outvoted. :(

So... you didn't gamble much, missed the Rock Honors, didn't see any celebs, and missed the Chris Isaak show.

Sounds like a great time. :?
