Hmmm . . . tough one, but here goes:

STYX
1. Father OSA
2. Earl of Roseland
3. Light Up
4. This Old Man
5. Castle Walls
6. Pieces of Eight
7. Why Me
8. Lonely People
9. Nothing Ever Goes As Planned
10. Great Expectations

SOLO
1. Desert Moon
2. Suspicious
3. Black Wall
4. South Bound Ryan
5. Harry's Hands
6. Outside Looking In Again
7. Goodnight My Love
8. This Time Next Year
9. Rain
10. Crossing The Rubicon

Funny, looking at that list, I always lean toward album tracks instead of hits. Maybe because I've heard the hits so much?

Poop, I forgot "I'm Okay." Crap. OK, take out Paradise and replace it with I'm Okay. How'd I miss that one?

I agree with you, Sterling. Album tracks have almost always been my favorites over the "hits." And one reason is because I'm sooo sick of the hits.

A toughie, indeed!!

Styx DDY – I am picking the ones he wrote alone (so Queen of Spades and Born for Adventure get left off, though they are among my very favorites)

Castle Walls
Pieces of Eight
Lonely People
Suite Madame Blue
Why Me
Goodbye Roseland
Paradise
Father OSA
This Old Man
Lady (How did I leave this out first time 'round???)

DDY Solo – Even more difficult with this new CD

Desert Moon
Beneath the Moon
Esmerelda
Outside Looking In Again
Gravity
This is the Time
Crossing the Rubicon
Save Me
I Don’t Believe in Anything
One Hundred Years from Now

ALL subject to additions and subtractions!

Top 10 Dennis songs

Postby cittadeeno23 » Tue Jul 17, 2007 5:00 am

With Styx
1. Borrowed Time
2. Castle Walls
3. Queen of Spades
4. Rockin the Paradise
5. I'm OK
6. Born for Adventure
7. Suite Madam Blue
8. Lady
9. The Grand Illusion
10 Come Sail Away

Solo
1. Rain
2. Crossing the Rubicon
3. Turn off CNN
4. Don't Wait for Heroes
5. This Time Next Year
6. Black Wall
7. What a Way to Go
8. Desert Moon
9. The Best is yet to Come
10 I don't beleive in anything (I love the lyrics in this song!)

Boy, that was hard!! Other than "Borrowed Time" firmly at #1 with a bullet for as long as I live, the rest of the songs are subject to move around in order. Although Castle Walls is pretty much set at #2. Talk about EPICS!

And although it is not in my top ten Dennis-with-Styx songs, I beleive "The Best of Times" is the greatest rock Ballad ever recorded. I'm not a big ballad guy, but that song has lots of meaning to me. And the harmonies are some of the best I have ever heard. Plus it was my Wedding song and my Prom song. (Too bad both of those situations turned out horrible for me! But at least the Music was good!!!)
And I don't care what anyone says. LADY is NOT a ballad!!

Zan, most of your songs are not in my top 10, but I do like all the songs you picked. I think "Nothing ever goes as Planned" is Under-rated. And even though Roboto helped kill the band, and it is goofy, I still find myself listening to it quite a bit
all these years later. It just sounds GOOD in the Car!!

What!? No Boomchild?? That song is great.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.
