Which lyric showcases JY's stupidity the best?

Postby Higgy » Thu Jan 31, 2008 7:57 am

I think its the Double Life line about schizophrenia. It clearly shows that JY thinks that schizophrenia means that you have multiple personalities.
There are sooooo many to choose from though!

Higgy-

The man has an engineering degree and has actually figured out ways to power recording studios with solar energy. You have........?

He's recorded several albums....you have?

It's okay to realize that you don't like the guy, you're entitled to your opinion. Do we need to keep hearing it though?

I vote for this as stupidest poll ever.

Please don't do the same thing for Dennis or Tommy because as we know, they have never written a bad lyric.

You can't point to the Schizophrenia line because that is not really his. That line has been around for SO MANY years and I think it was attributed to a comedian...

Hmmmm. JY may be a AssHat in real life, but most of his music is pretty good. Although that " guitar solo" in the beginning of Caught in the Act is disgraceful.

I wouldn't go as far as calling him Metal. Hard Rock is closer IMO.

I vote for stupidest post ever by Higgy. Of course, the list would be quite long... :P
Stupidist verse by Dennis would be the obvious, "Let's try this!" Tommy's would be, "O... K. ....."
Sorry, couldn't help myself. This topic is just so, for lack of a better word, Stupid.

I disagree. JY is metal. Listen to all of his work in Styx. He could have fit in nicely with all the metal bands of the era. I truly wish Styx had given him more than 1-2 songs an album - it woudl have given them a lot more street cred in the rock and heavy metal circles.

I guess those same standards for defining Heavy Metal is what won Jethro Tull that Grammy some years ago.

ok... it's not Metal. Dude, it's not even close. It's hard rock, pure and simple.

compare Witch Wolf, Rock and Roll Feeling, Young Man ( ugh) with any real Metal bands. Not even in the same ballpark.

Again, it rocks pretty hard, I love some if it.

I agree it is hard rock and not metal, but I guess it depends how you define it. I was leafing through a book on the history of heavy metal (can't remember the name) and it included a heavy metal chart from England in the late seventies, and lo and behold, Queen of Spades was in the top ten. Along with Maiden, Priest etc. Go figure.

I also have the history of Iron Maiden DVD and they include a show from the late seventies about heavy metal fans in England. That was the time when everybody wore patches of their favorite bands on the jean or leather jackets. A few of them had the Styx logo. I am sure this was before Babe. After that, they probably would have been beaten up for wearing a Styx logo.

Yeah - why would you ask someone who is a prisoner of war, "Do you know that you're a prisoner of war?"

Well, yes, JY - I am aware that I am, indeed, a prisoner of war. Its kind of hard for me not to know. I put forth to you that I am in fact a city slicker. The question I have for you is do you get the picture?

Now if I could just figure out what I was fighting for!
