Looks like Boston and Styx?

I had to jump in here. I am fairly liberal politically - but I think that its real hard to say that somehow the US brought 9/11 upon itself. Sure we turned a blind eye to the middle east and our policies have only our oil interest in mind, but for the guy working at the Starbucks at the World Trade Center had nothing to do with those policies. He's the one thats dead.

That's right, he is. And you're right too. FTR, I never said, nor do I believe that we "brought it on ourselves." I think Al Qaida and groups like it are sociopathic nutjobs that have no purpose but to spread hatred and despair. I do, however, believe they wanted to bring attention to themselves in the U.S., and they only way they could do that was to bring their "purpose" here. They knew we would never pay attention to them until they did. And they got exactly what they came for. We know it was senseless, but they believe it was a raving success.

And I felt compelled to answer you with a sense of rationality because your post actually demonstrated some. So thanks for that.

And why do we as Americans put more weight on 9/11 than other OBL terrorist acts? Probably because it happened in AMERICA and many of us knew a victim.

To some degree, I concur, but I also know that our media places a higher importance on American casualties more than any others. I can't tell you how many times anything is bombed in this world or tragedy occurs, how many time our news anchors make a point of telling us how many "Americans" were killed before all else (Yesterday, a ferry caught fire, killing 3 Americans & 57 other people" sorta thing). We as a people do tend to have an unhealthy obsession with ourselves. I sure as hell don't think we deserved 9/11, but I don't think anyone deserves that. The only difference here is, other places have been dealing with this sort of thing for years, but it never affected us in the slightest before that time.

We don't deserve to be hated, IMO. We are humans only conditioned to be more aware of our own. That's not a crime, if you ask me. Although, other people around the world don't always take my stance on the matter. We are definitely hated quite a bit across the globe for our patriotic narcissism.

In addition to the grief that I feel for the American families that suffered after 9/11, it has also made me more aware of the atrocities going on everywhere, which, I guess, it both good & bad in its own way. *shrug*

*That said, I've never been much of a Boston fan. I hope the tour works out well for the bands, if it does indeed transpire - just doesn't wet my britches, necessarily. I suppose it's more interesting than another REO co-bill.

There's something about the turn this thread has taken that seems awfully familiar.

Not that it matters at this point, but my post was in no way intended to insult the good city of Titusville, nor the general populace therein.

Carry on.

froy is, and only ever has been, himself. Fairly sure you're not a sock either (though, admittedly, the idea of a real person being that big of an Asia fan does stretch my credulity a bit.) Toph is definitely ...uh... from Titusville.

Sorry, but please explain to me what the comment means about me being from Titusville is supposed to imply? Do only people from Titusville feel that it is inappropriate to equate others to Osama Bin Laden?

Sorry, but please explain to me why you think it's supposed to imply such a thing.

And hey, as far as I can tell, only people from Titusville are from Titusville. Right? :)

As for the remark, maybe it was in slightly bad taste, but it was just an offhand remark. I think the horse is dead already. We got the point.

Since the horse wont die....
Not everything said with Bin Laden in the same sentence has to do with the World Trade Center. I lost friends in the World Trade Center both times it was bombed.
My comment was more about how if Bin Laden had his choice our world would be way different, in fact we probably wouldn't be on line and we certainly wouldn't be listening to music. So, yeah, I compare certain trolls to Bin Laden, because if they had their way many of us wouldn't have Styx concerts to go to. It's sad that anything typed has to be taken out of context to what? add more drama? Lighten up people. Don't take this too seriously, it's all in fun. Even the trolls have their entertainment value.
I apologize for getting on my high horse here, I just couldn't stand to see him beat anymore........
oh and froy I would worry less about my spelling and more about how much of a freaking loser you are.

I'm with you here; it doesn't shake my chains either. But almost anything is better than REO.

Wow, man. Thats a bit of a stretch. You might want to look at who exactly is taking Styx too seriously.

Yeah. Lets get it back to that. That is much more fun to disagree with you about - because I think Boston was fucking amazing. Tom Schultz was the Brian Wilson of 70s rock.

And here I go again.. But I'd much rather a DDY/Boston concert due to the fact that I think the music is more compatible than new-Styx who are much more of a REO/Cheap Trick type of thing than DDY-led Styx used to be.
