Would Like To Here Gowan Do Show Me The Way

How about that froy? lol. Been listening to it for a while and wondering how larry would do on this tune. Although I know it would never happen just curious on how or if he could hold up to the original recording. Probably.

Speaking of Led Zeppelin songs, have you heard Dennis' killer version of "Whole Lotta Love"? Wish I could find the link again, he and the band were doing an interview but he was awesome :D

No i'm not kidding....out there somewhere in internet land there's a clip of an interview(?) with Styx and Dennis doing a few cover songs (forgot what the other ones were with Tommy singing one and JY doing another (I think). I'm pretty sure this was around the RTP era...Allan or Sterling, anyone? :|

Nope she's not kidding. I have it somewhere packed among my things. I think it was during the RTP days. It really was well done.

WPLJ interview - the whole band was in the studio and they did snippets of classic rock songs. I have it floating around somewhere. If I remember correctly, they also did some Who ("I Can See For Miles" maybe?) as well ...

But it's real.

FANTASTIC song written for good reasons. One of Dennis' best slower songs..great song. 8)

Never did get into this song, although I was happy that it got airplay for Styx back in 1990. For me, it was just one too many over-the-top ballads from Styx, especially after a hiatus. So it's a no-brainer for me that I don't want to hear Gowan attempt it anytime soon. I'm glad that many fans seem to enjoy this song, though.

It just did not last for me. There are songs like The Grand Illusion, Renegade and The Best of Times that stand the test of time for me..even Lady, but not this song. Babe, Don't Let It End the same...ehh. I don't know why that is..it just is.

As one with a brother who fought in the Gulf War, it has significant meaning for me. A great song - much better than Don't Let It End - in my Styx top 5.

Yep..ditto..had a sister and brother both in the Gulf War..so it came out at a time when a song such as this hit home in so many ways.

Gowan can sing lead on some of Dennis' songs, only Show Me The Way isn't one of them.

He already covered it.

It's called Fields of the Brave. Same tune, new words.

I guess I can kinda hear Gowan doing this one.. Actually, I'm surprised current Styx doesn't throw this one in once in a while; it was their last smash single, and it has more of a universal meaning than most of Dennis' other ballads. This being said, while I think it's a good song, it's never really been one of my particular favorites, and I can't really put my finger on the reason..

I think they don't for a couple of reasons..trying to steer away more and more from songs that were 'Dennis' and it really isn't the tempo of song they are wanting to play anymore..

Geez dude - in your personal, subjective opinion ... it's not a fact. You can convey the exact same thing saying "I didn't like Gowan's singing and would prefer he not sing that song" and not cause a flame war in the process with people who like Gowan's singing or would like to hear him sing it.

I wouldn't want him to sing this, or any other Dennis DeYoung penned song. The guy just can't pull it off in my opinion.
