FANTASTIC song written for good reasons. One of Dennis' best slower songs..great song. 8)

It just did not last for me. There are songs like The Grand Illusion, Renegade and The Best of Times that stand the test of time for me..even Lady, but not this song. Babe, Don't Let It End the same...ehh. I don't know why that is..it just is.

As one with a brother who fought in the Gulf War, it has significant meaning for me. A great song - much better than Don't Let It End - in my Styx top 5.

Yep..ditto..had a sister and brother both in the Gulf War..so it came out at a time when a song such as this hit home in so many ways.

You do know , I hope, that this song had nothing to do with the Gulf War when it was written.

For sure, but it really fit for us considering we had family over there when this song came out.

Show Me the Way

Postby kipthekid » Thu May 29, 2008 12:45 am

the fact that it became such hit long after Styx was past its prime is saying something.

IMHO, it's a notch below the best Styx has done, but it's better than tunes like Don't Let It End and certainly superior the vast majority of the "work" Styx has done on BNW and Cyclorama. I believe that another song in the same milieu - Dennis' "Save Me" - is a better song. It's too bad that timing and circumstances didn't allow for that to be a Styx single.
Can't we all just get along?

My opinion, but SMTW blows the door off Save Me. The tune is better on SMTW and the harmonies are classic Stygian. I don't get a lot of great harmonies on Save Me..
