Favorite Christmas ALBUMS

We did a similar thread (or assembly line, Yogi) on Christmas songs last year (At least I think so). I thought I would see if anyone might want to list his/her/their favorite Christmas albums. Gotta be the whole thing that you listen to, first song to last.

"Perry Como Christmas" –Pick any Christmas album by this guy. No one has a smoother voice and his is perfect for the old Christmas standards.

Sarah McLachlan – "Wintersong" – Lovely take on some newer, and old, Christmas music.

Rik Emmett and Sam Reid – "The Spirit of Christmas" – Instrumental. Gentle, quiet take on some really old Christmas music. Perfect for firesides and tree decorating.

"A Charlie Brown Christmas" – I love this CD and the timeless classic TV special for which the music originally was performed.

My mother played the heck out of an Elvis Presley album when I was growing up, but on it contained his Blue Christmas classic, his vesion of White Christmas (not as good as Bing, but close) and Santa bring my baby back to me which was catchy. She had one by Loretta Lynn too that was good. LL did a song called the heck with old Santa Clause, "when he comes dashing through the snow I hope he falls". Funny tune.

Child beater or not, Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" will probably always & forever be my Christmas album, It's not Christmas until I've played that one. A very close second, of course, is Glen's Xmas Xtravaganza Live CD.

I enjoy the Manheim Steamroller and Trans Siberian orchestra CDs as well.

I'm one of the few people who LOVES holiday music, and don't really get sick of it.

Jethro Tull's Xmas album is REALLY good.

The Ventures put out an instrumental rock Xmas album in the 60s which is on CD now...classic!

Enya's new Xmas CD sounds pretty good from what I've heard.

The Kingston Trio (old folk outfit) also put out an Xmas record in the 60s that was recently put on CD too. A lot of Xmas songs that aren't very common, and that's why it's very unique.

-- Miracle on 34th Street (remake) Soundtrack

-- A Rock N' Roll Christmas (various artists)

-- Cast In Bronze (this band's focal point is an instrument that dates back to 1480 called a carillon - http://castinbronze.com - can't remember the title and it's not on their site any longer. Saw them at a balloon festival many years ago and they were incredible.)

-- Kenny G.'s 'Miracles: The Holiday Album'

-- Gloria Estefan's 'Christmas Through Your Eyes'

You're quite welcome. That's one of my Zep favorites, too.

The most surprising and unbelievable aspect of "Virtual Zeppelin" is that it is just that: Comprised of musicians in different parts of the world, playing/singing their parts, sending them to each other, and then putting it all together in one clip to create one cohesive, tight, and practically flawless performance.

I would pay good money to see these guys perform, but I'll unfortunately have to settle for YouTube. Hell, they're way better than that old Zep tribute band, Physical Graffitti that I used to go see years ago. They have a few videos up there under each musician's channel. Yeah, I love YouTube, too. All too often, it is the only way to see lots of stuff that I enjoy or have never seen before.

that's a very unique way of editing together the song! cool. i'll have to check out more of their stuff. never saw "physical graffiti" or other zep tributes, but once we did see Dread Zeppelin in some city club back in the early 90s. they are a hoot!

That's about the same time frame I saw Dread Zeppelin, I went to that show certain it would be a horrible night but it turned out to be a lot of fun. They were highly entertaining.
