Look, this is much ado about nothing. Is it right they don't mention Dennis? Probably not, but as Zan said, as much as the mudslinging has died down, it doesn't mean fences are mended.

We all know Dennis was an integral part of Styx for their main years of popularity. While it should most likely be acknowledged in some way in the bio even if it's one sentence (i.e. "Dennis DeYoung who wrote many of the band's hits parted ways with the band in 1999."), it shouldn't come as a big shock to anyone that he isn't mentioned anywhere in the site revamp.

If anyone should be pissed, it's Dennis, not the fans. And I doubt you'll see any public reaction from DDY on this.

Of course not. He's not stupid. I doubt this sort of thing is pleasing to him, obviously, but it can't be unexpected at this point. That said, a band's website is a promotional tool for that band, not a piece of journalism. This new website design is what it is - a puff promo piece for the current lineup that is woefully incomplete and not-very-well-written, Dennis and Glen aside. It doesn't stick to any narrative thread and kinda hops from subject to subject, and the thing about not giving an accurate complete history really IS kinda stupid, but hey, it's Styx, LOL. When it comes to how to present itself in print and image itself, "kinda stupid" has been this band's middle name for its entire career. Why stop now?

I wish they hadn't excluded Nigel Tufnel's contributions, though. THAT one really hurt, LOL.

I hope all is well.

How 'bout if I said:

I bet if Dennis WAS on the site, they would have made HIM the smallest! 'Cuz that's how much they think he deserves!

Wait - Maybe he IS on it, they just typed his part of the bio reallyreallysmalllikethisonlysmallersothenakedeyecan'tseeit.

I bet that's what happened.

Well in a way you're right. He is very tiny in the discography section. His picture is still on the cover of Styx II and The Grand Illusion. It wouldn't have shocked me had they airbrushed him out ala Van Halen and Michael Anthony. But at least they didn't do that.

The website has JY's fingerprints all over it. Like I've said many times before, it's only a matter of time before JY gets his way and is able to airbrush DDY out of ALL their previous pictures, like he never even existed. They could replace his face on PO8 with one of those Easter Island statues, even. JY seems to have taken a page from Vladimir Lenin: "The future is already known, it's the past that must be re-written."
