Favorite 'Song for Suzanne'

Postby gr8dane » Thu Jan 14, 2010 2:06 am

It is no secret that Dennis is loyal husband and has loved Suzanne for a life time.Even so much that he has not written just one song for her,but maybe 10.
Anyways. You can't pick 'Lady',because that would win hands down,I'm sure.

My choice is Song for Suzanne.I love the good ole Styx prog days on Wooden Nickel.Dennis had 5 excellent songs on this one.His strongest string on any album.

Don't get all gushy now.

You should have included none of the above or they all suck.

Well, Gr8, ya gotta get your props for the most unusual poll around these parts ever!

Of that list, I think "I Believe in You" because of the rolling, joyful beat and terrific harmonies.

My personal fave of his music for/inspired by Suzanne, however, would be "Beneath the Moon."

Your're right. Lady would win hands down.
Song for Suzzane would be my number 2.

Beneath the Moon would be my favorite choice as well, very good song, wish DDY would play this at his shows.

LOL, Gr8. BTW, "prop" can also mean something that holds something else up. In my case, that definition most accurately applies.

By the way, I'm pretty sure he wrote "Paradise" for Suzanne (doesn't he write almost every love song for Suzanne?), and that gets my vote for favorite.

Grove of Eglantine.

Masterful lyrics. Makes me cry.

Hey you there
Cast an eye this way
You with that young lust virgin smile
Don't pretend that you're quickly melting before my eyes
That's a lie

'Cause I see all of you
Quite clearly now
I like our looks your moves you know everything
So when I ring you up in the evening I shall meet you

In the Grove of Eglantine
Just south of man's delight
Close to a soft flowing stream

In the Grove of Eglantine
We will join as lovers might
Between the lines of a dream

Your magic lips
Have made me realize
All of the pleasures man can fantasize
So don't pretend that you're sad to see me say goodbye
That's a lie

You're a wicked wench...ha
But thanks for all the laughs
You and your young lust virgin smile
And when I'm gone for awhile
I'll once more want to meet you

In the Grove of Eglantine
Just south of man's delight
Close to a soft flowing stream

In the Grove of Eglantine
We will join as lovers might
Between the lines of a dream
In the Grove of Eglantine
Just south of man's delight
Close to a soft flowing stream

In the Grove of Eglantine
We will join as lovers might
Between the lines of a dream

In Eglantine...of a dream (fade)

I just don't understand why he couldn't have found a place for this song in "The 101 Dalmatians Musical."
