NFL head injuries

Postby squirt1 » Wed Jun 30, 2010 1:12 pm

The Chris Henry autopsy shows many brain injuries and talks about its relationship to his behavior. There are more amongst former players. His mother allowed it and they sliced sections of the tissue that were stained that confirm the diagnosis . What will high schools & the NFL do to prevent the hits, say like to Chad Johnson by Ray Lewis last season. Wow, football is going to change because of lawsuits.

I think he got pushed out of a moving pickup?

On related Cincinnati issue- Cedric Benson arrested after punching club employees in face and spitting blood in another's face, Look it up, I'm too tired to. Happened in a Texas bar...go figure.

Deano dear- Chris Henry died of chronic traumatic encephalopathy which causes the behaviors exibited. Read up on it and I think their are more in the NFL i.e. more cases and OLDER cases of brain sloush, so to speak. Now, on to Cedrick. I think he will have a yr waiting for him & should stay out of Austin !!!!!!

The NFL already pampers the offensive players, esp the QB and WR's of taking certain types of hits, so I don't see how they can make the game any safer. These pro athletes on the field are trained like rabid dogs, no way can they go out there and tip toe around the football field or their ass would be out of a job in the snap of a finger. The NFL has custom made helmets made to prevent concussions, and changed various rules not allowing headshots to the head in a helpless position, so if the NFL wants to turn into the NBA, they might as well put shorts on them.

Not happening, football is straight forward. Aggressiveness and tenacity is the whole reason why the game was invented.

On a side note, Deano has a damn point. The dude got pushed out of a moving pickup truck and landed on his face so I'm sure this had something to attribute to the bruising of the brain or whatever they found. They tried saying the same thing about Ben and his concussions. I guess concussions make you go out and screw women. Troy Polamalu is one of the nicest guys that ever graced this planet and he walked into the league with various concussions, so this argument is FLAWED.

i've read reports on ESPN saying that its possible that ben roethlisberger of the steelers might be doing some of the stuff he did because of repeated concussions.they are saying that these blows to the head could possibly be making players act out of character or do things that might not normally do.still doesn't excuse a player to do the things they do and its not an excuse especially considering the things big ben did but it does make you think.

Look, I have had 1 member of my immediate family surviving an open head injury for 3 yrs and another in an accident that is still here. She has a different personality , but yet is still her. Hits allow the brain to sloush around and tear connectors. Head injuries change behaviors and thought processes and personalities. Protect your kids, please. I will listen to the doctors, if you don't mind. I can just see the lawsuits coming and ruining my favorite sport . I think the NFL already knows this. Remember EVERY head injury IS different !
