If Styx were to record a new album and sell it at a decent price, would you buy it?

Yes- I wish they would.

No- I'd rather pretend it's 1983 and keep griping at the band.

I for 1 am down with it!!!!

P.S. You can'T dismiss the power of this song. It's a working mans anthem. It's Glen Beck on steroids. If a major lable would pick this up it would ship triple platinum!!

I would actually buy a cd with different versions of "Blue Collar Man". LOL I would love to hear a death metal version, a twangy version - get those banjos going and also it sung by singers of "today".

They should look in the mirror for the answer. They fired a producer that was in the band and doing a fine job of it IMHO.

They are not making anything like people think they are, Styx gets 30 grand per show split about 10 ways or 3000 each and then tax it.

So did they piss away all their money from the 70's and 80's?

$30 Grand Per Show? That's a joke right?

I was considering hiring a much lesser known, yet popular 90's band for my wedding and they wanted 20K for the show.

Styx is likely more along the 100K, 150K per show realm. They have all their own lights and gear and what not.

Styx may make 20 mil a year, but not just from touring. Gotta throw Swag and other stuff in there also.... album sales, etc. Styx is a corporation not just a band. He's likely referrring to Styx the corporation.

Bands strike different deals depending on the venue and the promoter. Deals may include a portion of the ticket sales in lieu of a large up-front fee or some kind of split. Could also include concessions. Just depends on the deal they strike with the promoter/venue. I'm sure there are guarantees in terms of minimums tho

just don't ever listen to froy it's always way off. what band for your wedding?

Cracker (whom I might add - puts on an AMAZING live show... they don't have a set list. David Lowery calls out the songs as they play... so every night it's a different mix-mash of songs from their catalog).

Not an unreasonable price mind you. The venue my wife chose for the wedding didn't lend itself to a band. We're thinking of throwing our own music festival one year... would be a hoot. :)

I thought someone here attempted to book Styx for some sort of event and they wanted 100k?
