Luke's All's Well That Ends Well

Got a hold of Luke's new album today (thank you NEH Records for the quick delivery). Listened to it twice through already and I am going out on a limb here and say that it is better than Ever Changing Times, I loved that album too. I'll have more to comment as I listen to it more, but just wanted to say pick this album up Luke does not dissapoint.

Yeah, it's definitely a more well-rounded album compared to ECT...It has alot of depth to it, and I like it the more I listen to it.

I've had it for awhile so I've had to sit with it. Definitely pick this one up and support Luke, CJ and the rest of the players. They did some great work here. One his best efforts.

It really does get better the more you listen to it, and I agree that it does have a lot of depth, a lot of things going on. I think Luke's guitar playing shines on this album more so than any of his solo releases.

The opening track "Darkness in my World" just grabs you right of the bat. "Can't Look Back" is a nice mid tempo rocker. "Flash in the Pan" is just a great Stevie Ray Vaughan style song, really showcases Luke's different styles, cool lyrics too. "Watching The World" could be a Toto song, cool mellow intro that builds into a mid tempo ballad type. "You'll Remember" also very Falling In Between Toto sounding song. "Brody's" now this is a kick ass tune, this song grabs you from the first listen, very catchy guitar riff. The song is about a guy that sees the world sitting in a bar named Brody's.

The album came in a very nice package with really nice liner notes, Luke spending time to talk about each song, I wish more artists would do this.

really hoping the US release includes vinyl...the import is a little pricey for me right now. :\

Finally got it for Xmas... After about 10 listens, I've gotta say it's very good. Darkness in my World is just downright fucking cool... sounds like FiB but darker and more atmospheric. Those atmospheric keyboards are GREAT.

At just 9 tracks, I found it a bit too short, however.

I have to give the overall nod to Ever Changing Times. The title track, New World, Jammin With Jesus, I Am, Stab in the Back, and the SUPERB The Letting Go are tough to beat.

So far for me it's not even close to catching fire with me like Ever Changing Times. Haven't really been able to get much into the new one yet. It was that with Black Country Communion so I put it away for two months now I get it. That might be the deal with this record also.

In this day and age, that kind of restraint is my favorite part of the record. I'd rather hear 45 minutes of killer tunes than an hour-plus of filler.

A few of the lyrics are a little awkward (the bit about his Facebook page already makes the tune seem dated to me) but musically I think it's a great record, on par with ECT.

Well, I personally use Twitter much more than Facebook these days, but that's not the point...it just stuck out to me as something that immediately dates the song. Which is too bad, because I get the sentiment...sort of a dig at all the anonymous people on the internet who spend their time ripping other people apart, and that will probably always exist. Just seems a very awkward lyric to me. But I love the record, and appreciate how personal it is. Sort of a thematic sequel to the "Luke" album, sadly.
