Never knew the band played this one live.

Here's clips in concert of Byron singing "Stop Lovin You" and Girl Goodbye." "Lovin You" is especially ugly. Byron tries to cover it with falsetto. Just sux. Worse than Spinner.

Must say, as fey and cringe-inducing as his theatrics are, he does have some pipes. This vid of "Out of Love" from the same concert is very good.

yeh, i think Byron was/is a great singer, i just personally wasn't daft on him. i thought he did a good job of singing Bobby's songs but he was lousy at Joe's. even Bobby cant sing joe's (IMO). i think joe's voice is just far too high for anyone to reach, even for bobby, who cud probably outsing most folk.

Oh I dunno. When he had his shit together, I quite liked Bobby's versions of Pamela and Home of the Brave.

Joseph Williams?

Powerful singer, but "high range" isn't something I'd ascribe to him against other singers in that band. Fergie, sure. Bobby sure. But Joe???

Thanks for sharing the links! Didn't know they ever did Melanie live. I don't think Byron is a bad singer on some tunes but agree he was not a fit for that band. Watching GIRL GOODBYE with the dancing was hard. Was like he was trying to be Michael Jackson but clearly without Jackson's dancing ability ... or showmanship.
