Don't put me on that one finger...not a fan at all...

And brining up the new material point is a dead horse...there IS NO NEW MATERIAL...there is no NEW SURVIVOR....

I'm sure AP is kicking himself for not joining Survivor and getting to play 4 county fairs and a hot dog festival a year....

Not to mention the empty promise of new material and a fake album cover! Happening!

and maybe it's BS slander, but you won't get much past one hand of those that prefer it...in fact, I'm sure nobody prefers it and maybe one hand of those that can even tolerate it! You know that true...It's acceptable at best and God awful at its worst...

I will say this, different things are for different folks...Some are very excited about the possibility of a new VH album...to me a VH album without the harmonies of Michael Anthony will be about the most empty thing I can imagine...Most worry about Roth or Hagar or Eddie's shredding...to me, it was MA that helped make that band..I can hear it in Chickenfoot...we are all different...

Oh dear!

I never thought JJ's voice was suited to Tiger or FMS. Clearly those songs were written with Bickler's vocals in mind. Listen, back in the day, JJ could sing his ass off, but his voice was always on the smooth side to me and not "street" sounding.

Come on guy! Most people can not even tell the difference when Jimi sang Eye of the Tiger then when Dave sang it. When Robin sings them he makes it a totally differnet song. I know a guy who went to see Survivor recently and he commented how the new singer did not fit. WHen people saw Jimi sing EOTT they did not even know he wasn't the original singer. You really don't like JJ do you?

Bullshit. Completely different voices, thus the reason, Premonition, Tiger, CITG sound very different from Vital Signs and WSC. Thus the reason, many are in two different camps when it comes into Survivor.

There is a difference for sure in JJ and DB...and I ALWAYS prefer DB on anything...however, on Tiger they should like 1A and 1B...McSurvivor...29ZZZZZ....not even close..awful...really, really bad!

You are right though..most people would not even know the difference at a concert...if they went to see McSurvivor, the only way they would not know it was a different guy, is if they thought Dave totally lost his voice...

I've been amazed at how many people I've spoken to over the years that have said that they never knew that it was two different singers on Eye Of The Tiger and The Search Is Over, High On You, etc. Which I could never understand.

But I will say that Dave and Jimi sound a lot more similar to each other than Robin does to either Jimi or Dave.

Imagine this tune with brushed up diction and all the right lyrics! Just effortless. 8)

They must be deaf, or just casual fans. Dave's voice is vastly different than Jimi's! I like both very much, but when it comes to Survivor's rock catalog nothing beats the beret. Sorry no contest. I only wish that FMS would have actually been released with Dave on vocals. F*** that song flat out cooks with DB on vocals.

I've always been surprised, too, by how many people don't know that Survivor had two different singers. The first time I really heard Survivor was when I got the Rocky IV soundtrack for Christmas back in the 80s. I loved "EOTT" and "BH", and when I checked the credits, it said SURVIVOR for both, and I remember being a bit puzzled by that because the vocals sounded so different (I hadn't realized that the songs were recorded years apart, so I didn't realize that they had changed singers after EOTT.) I knew it couldn't be the same guy singing both songs, but I wondered why a band would have two active singers (hey, I was just a little kid!)

As for who's better between JJ and DB-- I agree that DB has a voice more suited to the harder rock stuff, whereas JJ wins on the pop and ballad stuff. However, the THTS album proved that JJ could also handle the hard-rock stuff really, really well (it would be interesting to here an alternate take of that album with DB on vocals....)

The only thing I don't like about DB's vocals is that I find it harder to understand what he's saying. I don't know if he has an accent or if his delivery is just a bit odd, but there's something about the way he sings that makes it harder for me to understand the words. I very, very rarely have that problem with JJ.

I can't comment much on Robin. The only really clear recording of him that I heard with Survivor is when he performed on Dancing with the Stars. Didn't like that much.

Who can? By the way, thank god Arnel is there. At least it keeps Journey alive!
