Foreigner IS Mick Jones's band and he has to be the only member for it to be ongoing ......like Whitesnake should break up as Coverdale is the only original member .......as should Journey (Schon), hey even Neil Diamond and Barry Manilow should stop as I bet the singers are the only original members of the first band that played.
When DDY went solo in 1999 are all band members the same if not then he needs to hang up the French onion sellers black and white shirt as saying otherwise would stink of Hipopcrisy (hiphop)

I think he was referring to the fact that Mick Jones has not been with Foreigner for quite a while now on this current tour so there are not any original members of the band or members that even played on the original recordings of the song that are in the set. I can't be harsh with my language as his absence is due to illness, but I see where Toph is coming from.

That being said, I saw them in 2000 with Gramm and this year when Mick was still there and they were much better this year by far. I am not a fan of the band, but I was entertained by their set.

The funniest thing about this thread is all the pro current Styx (if you can call it that) folks debating Troph's crowd estimate. In other threads they are so quick to point out how irrelevant the crowd size is. Yet, in this thread their video researching to up the crowd size. Too funny.

People who do not believe they had something taken away from them have no reason to be bitter. I can still enjoy this band so no reason to be bitter at all

Those who do nothing but whine and complain about the change, show their new found (12yrs now) hatred by constantly insulting the band...they are expressing the very definition of bitterness.

the 'vitriol' from the 'other side' comes from the fact that you can't STFU and STOP expressing your bitterness and move on with your life. At lest Toph is 'trying' to do that. But, like a plague, he keeps coming back.

That's because Styx nor Dennis hasn't done anything relevant for a long time. The subject of the break up and things associated with it is what keeps this forum going. If that was not being discussed this forum would be dead quiet. While some may have stopped posting here because they are not interested in the discussions, I'm sure there is another segment that has stopped because of their loss of interest in Styx and \or Dennis just doing the same old stale performances.

Not to be blunt but do you know how read properly? I said Styx NOR DENNIS. They both are not doing anything musically that would spark a discussion. It's just the same old show with the same old songs over and over and over. That's a main reason for the lack of other subjects here.

That is just a flat out lie.

There is no point in having a serious discussion about Regeneration because you and other assholes tank the thread. The same with Tommy's last album. It's simply a waste of time to even try.

The FACT is that the old members who have come back and posted explicitly say that it's the same old crap here and that's why they don[t post. So, quit inventing things.

Seriously, the thought that TOPH would see these guys and say something positive is ridiculous in itself. He never would.
As for makeup, um, have a look back at the Kilroy Tour (and others prior to it) the band wore a ton of stage makeup then. Not just eyeliner either. Big F'ing deal. It's SHOW BUSINESS and that's a part of it. Jeez, Dennis had a PERM for God's sake.... but he gets a free pass...? Now he has a terrible Toupe and he gets a free pass? Look at what he wore on the Crystal Ball tour (Suzanne's clothes?), Whatever... It's show business and dressing up is part of the gig. I guess if looks are what's important to you, you were probably a big Milli Vanilli fan.

LISTEN TO THE BAND instead of commenting on how they LOOK. The Music is what is important. They sound great in the clip I heard.
As for how many people were there, it was a BASEBALL GAME, not a proper concert.
If you stuck Dennis in there, it woulda been the same deal. However, they really do appear to be playing for a mostly empty stadium. 8000 for a CLASSIC ROCK SHOW isn't that bad, but yeah, if you put them in a 60,000 seat venue and it's only a 1/4 full, it's going to look pretty empty. On the other hand, if you put them in a 10,000 seat arena, it's going to look sold out.

Maybe you will get some peace in your life now Toph. Isn't there a Dennis forum you can hang out in and bash the current band to your heart's content?

I can see both sides of this for several reasons.

I'll start by saying that my first ever concert was Styx. (2003 lineup) John Waite and Kansas opened. I enjoyed the first two but was then just floored by Styx. I was 12 years old at the time. That was February. That summer, I found out that Classic Rock's Main Event was coming close to me so I got my uncle to take me. Once again, I liked REO Speedwagon and thought that Journey was amazing, but Styx was the best of the night, IMO. I also purchased Cyclorama that summer and it became a soundtrack to many memories that I hold dear now. I guess I should also say that my first ever favorite band was Styx. The songs Mr.Roboto and Renegade were the first songs I knew by them, and the only ones I knew for quite some time. I wore those two tracks on that mix CD out in a hurry. So in essence, it was Styx that got me into music in general. I was very impressed by their live shows and always left with a big grin on my face. The same thing happened in 2005, 2008, 2009, and 2010. Their concerts are a lot of fun. I like their crowd interaction and the way they interact with each other on stage.

But something happened in 2010 that changed my starry-eyed gaze at Styx: I saw Dennis DeYoung and his band for the first time. I loved hearing songs like Best Of Times, Don't Let It End, Mr. Roboto, and Rockin' The Paradise. Their rendition of Suite Madame Blue was one of the most impressive concert experiences of my life. I saw Dennis twice in 2010 and once this past summer in 2011. These three concerts put me in such a euphoric mood; like Styx had put me in after the 2003 concerts. Dennis is such a hilarious guy and seems like someone who I could sit down with and laugh for a few hours non stop. I really liked Dennis's charisma and stage banter. I can visualize what it would be like to have him sharing the stage with Tommy and JY in good spirits and I have concluded that it is nothing like what curent Styx offers. Additionally, I can't help but resent Tommy/JY a little bit because of how they treated Dennis. Dennis seems like a ridiculously friendly guy with a great sense of humor and a great work ethic. Basically, it is sites like these that sort of take the fun out of liking a band because you get to know about all the closeted skeletons. Although I'm probably not going anywhere (probably to the chagrin of some of you  ) After seeing what Dennis has to offer, I know full well that Styx isn't "Styx"

But. That's how they want it. They're seemingly happier than they ever have been before and that's what being a human is about. They are doing what makes them happy. I can't fault them for that. They're pretty good at what they do. Every single one of them is extraordinarily talented. I'll probably still catch their shows form time to time.

But I also know that seeing Dennis DeYoung is as close to seeing 72-84 Styx as I'm ever going to get. His shows are over the top excellence. He is respectful of legacy and knows where he is now. The same can't exactly be said for Styx. They're "the best version ever" Just ask them. I guess it's the personality and outlook that draws me towards the Dennis side.

This probably doesn't make sense to many of you. And that probably is understandable...I barely understand it. I just got home from a fun night out in Saint Petersburg with my international clubbing coalition 8)

Anyway, I am enjoying Cyclorama right now, watching the busy streets and admiring the Saint Petersburg lights. I feel good. Take Styx for what they are, and not what they claim to be, and it's a good deal. They're fun and play a really great tune from time to time.

In my mind Dennis doesn't get a free pass when it comes to the toupee and some of his outfit choices of the past.

Okay, since they're going so strong... let's just see where Regeneration lands on the Billboard 200. Foreigner's album of retreads landed at 45... and at least they offered something a bit different by recording some on acoustic. So this current incarnation with all their devoted fans surely will debut higher than Foreigner who has just one original member. Right? Let the excuses begin.
