A comparison above. So with Styx, you get 2 songs you don't get with Dennis - neither of which most fans in attendance will know. With Dennis you get 7 songs you don't get with Styx and 6 of the 7 most fans in attendance will know. After leaving, which one feels more like a Styx concert in song content?

As they say, sometimes less is more.

You are very much the minority.
Toph wrote:Face it. You blindfold a random fan (no, not a crazy die hard like you people) and have them sit through both concerts. You then ask them, ok you've heard two bands and their songs selections, which one was Styx? 99% of people will say its Dennis's bands. He really should bill himself as the one act that gives you all the Styx hits. Because by far and away his set list is much closer to what the average fan wants to hear than Styx's.

But isn't it lucky. You and I are getting pretty much what we want.
I want a Styx where I don't have to watch Dennis on stage and hear his top charted singles/ballads.
You get the voice of Dennis playing all his hits, that are so important to you, because they charted so high.
You don't like any of the musicians in Styx ,and in your opinion Dennis' band are so much better.
They also dress better and have better hair cuts.Dennis is playing the exact amount gigs a year, you like, compared to Styx.
You get the jokes and the report on how long Dennis has been together with Suzanne.
So at the end of the day it's a win-win situation right there.Don't you think?
So cheer up topher

Dennis needs the name - then I'll be happy.

That's just it, he doesn't If those songs were stiffs and went nowhere I could see wanting to forget about them but, when they were well liked based on how they charted and sold albums it's just odd.

Not odd really.Like today and like forever, most hits are fly by night. Here today gone tomorrow.Babe was a rocket and then it fizzled and became a joke.

Except for ignoring songs that were what made them what they are about. Sorry, it just isn't the same when you remove a key player such as Dennis was. You may like it or not but, that is what made Styx great. With the way they are now you are getting only a portion of what was good about them. For me the trappings i.e. visual effects, lighting, stage outfits, fancy "rock" poses wasn't the reason I was going to the shows. I was their to hear them play and sing the songs that made them a great band. Which included the balance of material from all three of them. For me that is all gone.

Lots of trappings in the Kilroy tour i suppose.
Anyways. The Styx mission statement was to be a rock band, and live they are.
If they played the Dennis ballads, they wouldn't be.
