The Final Frontier?

Postby The_Noble_Cause » Thu Nov 06, 2025 6:40 am

A new post on the Journey instagram page features a galactic backdrop with the cryptic words "The Journey continues into The Final Frontier." The audio is from the song "Separate Ways." No further details are provided. I imagine this is all part of a looming tour announcement. I know Neal said Jon is leaving, but with a name like that, this tour sounds bigger than just one member (to me anyways).

My guess is that Pineda will also leave at the end of the tour in 2027.

Neal, Deen and maybe Todd will continue on with a couple of new guys.

It's a shame that Smith, Valory and Rolie probably won't be part of the tour.

Hell, it would even be cool if Dunbar were to sit in with the band for at least one show.

I was always hoping that the final show would have pretty much everyone who was ever in Journey sit in, and they make it like a 4 hour show in San Fransisco. Obviously, Tickner can't be there when the time comes for the final show. And we don't know what else could happen over the next 2 years. But I do hope that they do the right thing and invite the other past members to sit in with them at different points during the tour.

Do the right thing. I know, I'm dreaming!

Tour dates announced. Looks like some of the same venues that were part of the second leg of the Toto/Journey tour. Still no press release. Beyond weird.

Not much breathing room between dates, just a day or two mostly with a few weeks break halfway through. I haven't paid much attention to previous tour schedules, so maybe this is par for the course. It seems very ambitious.

Why do they need breathing room when they’re using fixed or canned vocals

Official press finally release out. Farewell tour confirmed. Two separate statements from Neal / Jon.

Neal: “As its founding member, I carry the Journey torch to this day, wherever I go,” Schon said in a statement. “The sentiment and spirit of the band will always remain. While this marks a farewell to one powerful chapter of the Journey we’ve shared, I want everyone to know I’m not done. Music is still burning strong inside me, and there are new creative horizons ahead. This tour is both a thank you and the beginning of what’s next.”

Jon: “It’s been an incredible ride,” said the keyboard player. “We’ve shared our music with millions and this tour is about gratitude, connection and one last chance to feel that magic together. We wouldn’t want it any other way.”

Exactly.

No way of trusting Arnel's vocals on this upcoming tour.

Confirmation that this is a farewell tour is proof that Schon was being more honest than Cain was in regards to Cain leaving at the end of the tour.

Cain could have simply said that he would respond to Schon's statement at a later date. Not dispute that he was leaving at the end of the tour, when he clearly was/is.

The confirmation only proves that Neal was trying to deflect and change the subject when he abruptly tweeted that Cain "announced his farewell to Journey tonight!"
By that point, Neal (and AEG and everybody) already knew that the entire band was doing a final tour.

OR Cain's bandmate could have refrained from creating more needless drama and taken his own advice and actually waited for the press release to come out.

Journey/Survivor wrote:Not dispute that he was leaving at the end of the tour, when he clearly was/is.

That's not what Cain was disputing. He was put in a position of clarifying that he hadn't suddenly quit the band.
