Dennis DeYoung DVD

Postby classicstyxfan » Fri Dec 05, 2003 2:54 am

So, according to what I've read here, several posters have received the CD, and posted their opinions of it here...

Has anyone received the Soundstage DVD? If so, I'd be interesed in:

- Exactly what songs are on it ?

- What level of "support" to PBS was required to get a copy ?

- If you have the CD too, what are the differences musically
between the 2 ?

Some of my questions were answered Friday night, when they showed Dennis' soundstage episode on Wisconsin Public Television......While I am hoping and assuming there is more on the DVD than they showed, the selections that were shown were all songs that also appear on the CD.....they were different performances of those songs though....

( note to Styx....dfferent versions are cool if you are going to keep releasing the same songs on multiple releases......... )

The mix is different, in that the Orchestra seemed more prominent vs the CD...I prefer that actually. I'm not ready to shell out $100 to get this ( and I never will be, sorry PBS ) But if it ever comes down to market price, I will get it. I'm resigned to it being unavailable with out pledging while PBS is in extortion mode, I hope by spring maybe.

By the way, Dennis was NOT live at the studio in Wisconsin, I am guessing that honor went to St Louis instead. The show was 90 minutes, but 30 of that was in-studio blabber.

Yeah, pretty sad, aren't I ? I see the new thread from KC Kevin , I was hioping to hear from all the others in PBS areas who got to see the Soundstage, to get their opinions......I think everyone must be doing their x-mas shopping or something.

Classic, I would think the DVD that will be for sale would be a full 2 hour Soundstage concert. No offense to PBS and their Pledge Drives, but I'm sure there the DVD will be available to purchase a different way. I was told last week that the DVD's ordered from WTTW should be mailed out soon, by the end of this week (hopefully).

I enjoy watching his Soundstage, but I'd rather be at the concert live, especially with the orchestra. I'm still considering going to the Appleton show. I already have tickets to the Chicago show and I'm hoping he comes back to Summerfest next July, that was a fun show. :D

Well Marie, it could be that I got it sooner because I live in the Chicagoland area, or it could be just dumb luck. Either way, I would suspect they are now en route to those who ordered them
