Thanks for the info ChicagoStyx. I just pre-ordered mine (along with a few more DVD's). :)

There's an additional video that will be included. It's mentioned on Dennis' site but no one knows which one. Nobody will tell me either  So I guess I'll have to wait, boo hoo

Here are the 5 again:

1. Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)
2. The Best of Times
3. Too Much Time On My Hands
4. Boat on the River
5. Mr. Roboto

Let's take a guess what # 6 will be, okie dokie?

I'll say "Show Me The Way" :)

I think #6 should be "Not Dead Yet"......!!!! to bad that isnt a video, because that would be very appropriate, and funny !

If there is any justice, Number 6 will be the 10th video played on MTV's first broadcast, first day -- Rockin' the Paradise. It was played before ANY other Styx video. The next one played that day, The Best of Times, is already on the DVD.

I think I will wait for Amazon.com to have it for sale. I have some nice gift certificate credit just waiting for such an occasion! :D

I forgot about that Bugsy - LOL You're probably right, it could be "Rockin' The Paradise". Is that your final answer?

Too bad they just couldn't put all the videos together, bummer.

WOW! Thanks Chicago for that information. I wonder which version of Come Sail Away this is? I hope the rarely seen one from the 1977 promo. Cool.

I picked up the DVD collection tonight. CSA is a promo video I guess. It looks like they did not do too much clean up to it either for DVD but it was still very cool to see. I had never seen it before. It is also a edited version of the song I have not heard in a very long time. I remember hearing this version in a Jukebox at a pizza joint my dad used to take me to.

Thanks Pat. Then I assume this is the old promo for Come Sail Away from 1977.
Any commentary on the others? I also assume the others were the original videos that aired on MTV back in the day.
What about Boat on the River? Which version of that one?

That old version of "Come Sail Away" is a collectible for sure. They also did "Miss America" and "Foolin' Yourself" at the same time. It would be cool if those two also came out on DVD in the future.

I ask all these questions and likely will pick up the DVD this week or order it online.

I am curious though and thanks for helping.

The BCM clip is from CITA
CSA is the 77 promo clip that also included MA and FY
TMTOMH and BOT are the old videos from 81
BOTR is the old video that reminds me a lot of the Sing for the Day clip
MRoboto is the video clip NOT the live version from CITA.
PT is right in that there was virtually no visual clean up done.
I would say it is a STEAL for 7 bucks.

Thanks very much for that, Gary. I am definitely planning on buying it. It certainly is a steal since a couple of those videos are never shown on VH1Classic and are, seemingly, quite rare.

Too bad they are not cleaned up, but, as you say, for the price, I suppose these are good enough.

I appreciate the commentary and reviews from you guys.

i forget where it was but i have read that some of the older videos are harder to clean up based on the condition of the originals. Who woulda thunk they needed to keep a really good version for dvd some 20+ years after they were recorded.

But I agree, they are nice to have.

On a similar but different topic. I picked up No Doubt's "The Videos" DVD. If you like them and their videos, it is a MUST have. 16 videos, snipets, and commentary. Remember, they have the advantage of being able to use today's technology throughout their video career so the footage is much better.

Here is an almost off the subject FYI. You can always tell the generation and or quality of video by the depth of an object. Look on some 2nd or 3rd etc... generation video that you may have and you will notice that objects (such as a guitar) almost look flat. Even at an angle where there should be some depth it looks flat.
