Okay, taking Classic's suggestion that we retire the epic thread...

What is the best venue you've seen the band (any lineup) or solo performance by it's members?

Strangest?

Worst?

I can only speak for two DDY concerts I attended. The Milwaukee Theater was gorgeous with fantastic acoustics and great jumbotron screens.

The Beacon Theater in NY was historic and really cool. And there is nothing like the energy being in NY gives to the performers and the audience.

Best venue up to now was Bingley Hall Stafford December 7th 1981
It was an old cattle market and had 11,000 Stygians packed inside.

In June i am going to see them at Nottingham Rock City a great venue with Bars everywhere and a big screen by the main stage.....should be cool.
Great sound at the venue.

Bad-Saw Styx twice at the Grand Theatre in Biloxi MS. Show were good, but you are sitting at tables, makes it hard to get on up and enjoy the show.

Good-Styx in 91 on Edge of Century tour, the played at Mud Island in Memphis TN, Place was sold out, and people were lined on the bridge crossing the island to the TN side of the Mississippi river, and people were in boats, and on the shore of the TN side, listening to the concert-ERIC

I'll take a small venue any day!! I'm looking forward to seeing Dennis in Milwaukee. This small venue was picked on purpose to give the crowd a very intimate performance. I can't stand going to arenas anymore. I like to hear the music and see the band. I hate Alpine Valley in East Troy WI. I think a few of you on this list has been there before. I was there for a mud fight during one of the Monsters of Rock tour back in the 80's. I saw the Stones way back in the 80's and that was my last concert there. We were stuck in that parking lot for 3 hours. What a night mare. I don't mind Summerfest, I enjoy waiting 5-7 hours for the show I want to see that night. I get great seats, great food and hang with a lot of die-hard fans. I have a blast with the bands playing before, remember the Toys? A few on here know what I mean - LOL

I agree with Bugsy on the Milwaukee Theater show with DDY and the Beacon, we had great seats too  I also loved DDY's concerts in Chicago, beautiful theaters, great acoustics.

The best for me are the small theaters with any band, the worse is Alpine Valley (outdoor) and the old County Stadium for concerts.

I guess I'm just getting old 8)

Hey, I've been to Mud Island, that's kind of an interesting place to have a concert . . . whereabouts was the stage set up?

Wow, it is hard to pick just one. The Crystal Grand Theater in the Wisconsin Dells was great. But that is because we were in the first row and I didn't care who or what was behind us.

I like the casino thing. Soaring Eagle Casino in Michigan is great. Rooms on sight so you don't have to worry about driving. Seating at tables with bar service is nice.

But my favorite place is Rockfest in Cadott Wisconsin. Four days of heaven in a cornfield located somewhere in Wisconsin. VIP seating up front, camping on sight, Free food and drinks.

Mud Island has a small ampitheatre off to the left once you get on the island. Seats between 4,000 and 5,000. Nice outdoor setting at night. Se the lights of the city, on ine side, and the boats on the other.-ERIC

Best - Saenger Theatre for the Kilroy Was Here tour in New Orleans, LA. - great acoustics in the venue.

Strangest - Evergreen State Fair for the Brave New World tour in Monroe, WA - pretty good show with a steady light rain which didn't bother me.

I can't think of any worst.

Would like to see them perform at the Everett Events Center in Everett, WA. Great venue to see a concert. Plus it is only about a 30 minute stroll or a $12.00 round trip cab ride from my humble little home.
