We the Vioxx & Celebrex users that enjoy Styx music think there is nothing wrong with drinking bath water!!!!!!!!

Whoo! Thanks, Yogi, for injecting a little humor into the Monker Humor Free Zone!

I did a little digging and it's time to put this GREAT assembly line to bed. I found the actual quotes where Dennis DID in fact talk about the fans drinking Tommy's bathwater. These quotes were long and I will just print the quotes that pertain to what we are talking about. These are from September 1999 which was right after Styx went out on tour without Dennis. He sounds VERY VERY bitter.

'Once Tommy joined the group we would head to his ranch every now and then. It was a good way to get away from the pressures that were mounting on all of us. One day back in late 76' I was looking through some lyrics Tommy had written years earlier. I had found them in a trunk, that I dont even think Tommy knew existed. Tommy was really into bowling at that time. He had a song that started 'I'm bowling today' I like the way that sounded but I changed the words to 'I'm Sailing Away'. Tommy didnt mind one bit and we had our feature song for our upcoming album'.

'Tommy got married in 78' to his first wife. His current wife today has an obsession with cutting hair. His first wife had an obsession with washing cars. Tommy has some type of deal with women that obsess. Anyhow, we ( the band and our inner circle) would always drive our cars to Tommy's when we worked. Sometimes we would work for 36 to 48 hours. We would got out of a session and our cars would be spotless.'

'In 79' we went to Tommys to do our writing for Cornerstone. Tommy was getting really popular in Europe. He was working on this song called ' Boat In My Bathtub'. Tommy is a smart guy and he saw how water type songs have an impact on our fans ( Come Sail Away). Tommy played the song for me and I knew it was not going to be big here in the states, the tempo was all wrong, but I thought it could be big in Europe. Since they dont really like to bathe in France I suggested to Tommy to change the name of the song from Boat In My Bathtub to Boat On The River. My god he was so popular over there already they would 'DRINK HIS BATHWATER'. Why piss off or offend the actual people that would be purchasing this song. Thats why I suggested the name change. The Europeans would of never gone for Boat In My Bathtub'

There you have it. Was Dennis slamming Tommy????? You decide!!!

Gosh, Yogi. I am so glad you unearthed this rare, rare interview. It clears EVERYTHING UP, at least for me.

Whew. I was "obsessing" about the bathwater quote, and, here , it was all just so innocent.

Guess I need to go out and wash my car since I can't "obsess" about that anymore. I am not so good at cutting hair.

:P

No, he is not insulting Tommy Shaw. But, he is insulting the entire country of France. Maybe that is why it was lost...I mean, nobody cares about insults hurled at France.

Seriously...I don't think people understand what living life is until they are confronted with their own mortality and have to face death. Then, and only then, do they understand what 'living' life is and put forth a belated effort to truly LIVE their life. Therefore, life is wasted on the living...because the living do not truly appreciate life.

Or, something like that. I'm sure some pooka will come about and explain it better.

I know EXACTLY what you mean about facing your own mortality. One person who I felt has handled this EXTREMELY well is Greg Lamond. His winning all of those Tour de France bicycle races after recovering from cancer is TRULY inspiring. I read somewhere where Greg is a huge fan of Styx.

I was soooo sad to hear just yesterday that Greg had tested positive for three substances that are banned by the tour officials ................................................................................. Soap, shampoo, and toothpaste!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, and I hear old Greg is allergic to yellow as well. However, Lance Armstrong is not.
