And now Tommy and JY rule over 3 employees.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

And maybe your head is empty.

Nah...it's full of magic nose goblins. Do you wanna see my collection? I picked them myself.

Hmmm... I don't seem to remember them having problems cashing the checks from all the hits Dennis was writing... which led to huge album sales... huge tours... huge merchandising... etc... etc.. etc..

LOL...your point about the BTM is TOTALY off so you come up with another froy'ism. Guess it's obvious when you are shown when you don't know what you are talking about.

I never said I was certain about hearing it on BTM... it was likely another source.

You've shown me nothing but your inability to prove an argument.

Dennis was let go because of his songs on Cornerstone. First Time and Babe. Rest of the bad hated them. But Dennis was brought back, because the cd was finished and the rst of the band could not find a good replacement. It's on vh 1 behiond the music-ERIC

If they hated these songs so much, why wouldnt they just refuse to play on them ?

or encourage DDY to release a solo album ? heck they could even help him out by playing on them......but I think they didnt want to get cut out of the profits to be made by releasing them under the Styx name..certainly bigger $$$ than the records would have made under DDY's name.

I can only imagine the pressure these men put on themselves and the band. All of them. They were achieving so much success, and when that happens, that's a hard thing to maintain. Today even more so. So each started trying to hone what they believed would continue the success. And while it can be said that you should stick with what you know, it can also be said that to do so, you can become complacent and lose that success. So they reluctantly rolled the dice on what Cornerstone offered, it hit for them, but at the same time, it truly polarized their views of the band and what it was. Who of us recognizes that decisions we make, at the time we make them, can have some truly profound effects on us and our lives. It was a business decision they ALL made. I just wish the band didn't view that decision as one that ultimately was bad for them. Cuz I thik it made them a lot of new fans, and showed that they had even more song style capabilities that they were good at.

Just my unasked for opinion

Peace

It makes no sense if they had enough leverage to oust him from the band at that time then why couldn't they just have said they didn't want those songs on the record. Seems easy enough.

Me thinks the record company must have realized they were hits and intervened wanting those songs on the album.

That speaks volumes about the character of those guys.... couldn't get rid of their meal ticket.

I wonder, did Dennis convey this attitude to the rest of the band? If he did, that would really grind away at bandmates, I think. If he was humble about being the "meal ticket", then maybe I might buy the character remark. Not knowing any of them personally, all I can do is speculate, which isn't worth a whole lot.

Again, if he had this same attitude and was arrogant about it, that would be tough for anybody to take. This type of comment has shown up many times on this message board (Tommy and JY not complaining about all the money DDY made for them). I wonder how many times this same thought was thrown in Tommy and JY's faces when it was time for creative decisions to be made. In my mind, that would partially explain why they went along with some of the atypical music, but I'm just uselessly speculating again . . .
