Funny Songs

Postby bugsymalone » Sun Jun 05, 2005 3:27 am

OK, so how's about some funny ones?? One could include inadvertently funny songs as well. Lord knows there are LOTS of those.

"I Love LA" - Randy Newman - "Big nasty redhead, by my side" - Great video for it as well

"The Homecoming Queen Has Got a Gun" - Julie Brown - Oh such a funny song and video she did for this.

"Music Time" - Styx - "I like fast food. The burgers always taste the same" but I feel this song is way more effective when you see the video made for it.

"Jesus He Knows Me" - Genesis

Bugsy
Change your hairdo. Change your name.
Congratulations! You're still the same.

What's My Age Again-Blink 182

Then later on, on the drive home
I called her mom from a pay phone
I said I was the cops
And your husbands in jail
This state looks down on sodomy
And that's about the time that bitch hung up on me
Nobody likes you when your 23
And are still more amused by prank phone calls
What the hell is call ID?
My friends say I should act my age
What's my age again?

JC Classics that I find alot of humor in are:

- You Better Ask ( talk about a guy who should have just stayed home one night ! )

- Plexiglass Toilet

How many rock stars have a song with:

Banana, Fart, Belch, Wipe, But, Enchilada etc. in the Lyrics ????

Just about every song The Refreshments ever wrote has hilarious lyrics:

Banditos:
So give your ID card to the border guard,
Yeah, your alias says your Captain Jean-Luc Picard,
Of the United Federation of Planets,
Cause he won't speak English anyway

Mexico:
Here comes another song about Mexico,
I just can't help myself,
I lost my old lady,
Got my lures and my bobbers and I'm gonna go.
Got off in the wrong direction,
Found a hooker and lost my erection,
So I had to lie in the letter to the boys back home.

Broken Record:
Well, I did your job while you were on vacation,
Covered all your shifts for your operation,
But when you got back,
You still wouldn't show me your brand new silicon boobs.
(later in the song . . . )
No I'm not a quarterback, I'm not a fireman,
Still I can have any girl in Japan,
Cause I'm a healthy 159 pound American boy.

If you're looking for some light-hearted music, with kind of a southwestern rock sound to it, I highly recommend both Refreshments albums: Fizzy, Fuzzy, Big and Buzzy and/or The Bottle and Fresh Horses.

I get a kick out of My Elusive Mind (from Neverland) and Peace Sign (from Seven) by Night Ranger.

Just Fell In from BNW gives me a chuckle.

I think the Marvelous 3 songs Little Head and Grant Park are hysterical.

Sir Mix a Lot:

So your girlfriend rolls a Honda
playin' workout tapes by Fonda
but Fonda ain't got a motor in the back of her Honda
my anaconda don't want none
unless ya got buns hun

If there are funnier lyrics outside of a Mojo Nixon album, I haven't found 'em.

I always liked the Rimmer munchkin song...But, I'll swap it about for Dennis....

The Dennis Munchkin song:

If you're in trouble he will save the day
He's brave and he's fearless come what may
Without him the band would go astray
He's Dennis, Dennis, Dennis DeYoung

Without him life wouldn't be much fun
He's handsome, trim, and doesn't weigh a ton
He will never need no-one
He's Dennis, Dennis, Dennis DeYoung

More reliable than the rising sun
He's never been mistaken for Attila the Hun
He's not bald, and he doesn't own a gun.

Master of the courts and the judiciary
He sued his old band unlike Steve Perry
How come he's such a genius? Don't ask me!
Ask Dennis, Dennis, Dennis DeYoung

No rhymes left now apart from won
I better quit soon before I get to bun
That is all and now I'm done

Holy Mackeral,

That song makes me want to never see that smeghead ever again! :D

But wouldn't a Tommy munchkin song be more appropriate?

Zaphod Beeblebrox
He's the guy you want to vote for
When you get into that Voting Booth
Put an X next to his name

Zaphod Beeblebrox for President
Building bridges between the stars
In no way is he stupid
In no way is his brain impaired
It's just not true, he's smarter than you
And he's better looking too

Zaphod Beeblebrox
Has the longest hair of any candidate
And he's got the coolest shades
And his teeth are white as snow

So let's elect him President
He'll build bridges between the stars
Don't believe the rumours
Don't believe those vicious lies
They're just not true
He's smarter than you
And he's better look too

(Spoken)
"Listen. I just wanted to say, y'know.
Whatever presidents say y'know.
Things like, er... the name of people and er, freedom
And I dunno. Democracy, stuff like that. Woo! Come on!"

Zaphod Beeblebrox for President
Building bridges between the stars
In no way is he stupid
In no way is his brain impaired
It's just not true, he's smarter than you
And he's better looking too

Given how anti-Carrot you are at the present time, I'm surprised you took the time to acquire this album (download, borrow, purchase, etc.) and then even more time to listen to it. Based on many of your current lineup comments, you giving it the time of day was a stretch, in my mind. If you don't mind, would you explain exactly what circumstances led you to listen to Cyclorama? Just curious.

My apologies if you already read this on the other thread.

- You Better Ask ( talk about a guy who should have just stayed home one night ! )

I think that's JC's best tune. I'd love to see a Pop/Hip-Hop artist do a remake using original samples. I think it would turn out fine, especially if the artist in mind is Shaggy. Then again, this tune is also right up Big & Rich's alley. :D

Other funny songs:

Edguy -- Lavatory Love Machine (the song is a riot -- it's about banging a stewardess before the plane crashes). :D

Big & Rich -- Save A Horse & Kick My Ass (both these songs crack me up)

Shaggy -- It Wasn't Me -- Kinda like JC's "You Better Ask", come to think of it! Same basic theme. :)

Big & Rich -- Save A Horse

The video is funny too. I sorta know the lady who played the mannequin, Sarah Darling. She also has an awesome voice.

Well, I knew that Styx without Dennis was an exercise in futility, however just to verify if I was correct I took a listen.

By the time Billy Bob Thornton came through my speakers, I knew I was correct.

Well, at least you gave it a try.

Mercifully, they kept that pretty short. I like the album, but Billy Bob doesn't do a whole lot for me!

These were on albums called "Goofy Greats" or "Loony Tunes" or "Dumb Ditties". I got them for Christmas when I was kid. I saw them on CD at Best Buy a few years ago.

There were a bunch of silly songs like:

"On Top of Spaghetti"
"Monster Mash"
"Please, Mr Custer"
"I taut I taw a puddy cat" (or however you wanna spell it)
"Witchdoctor"
"Martian Hop"
"I'm a Nut"
"Snoopy vs. Red Baron"
"Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead"
"Ma na ma na" (or however you spell it)
"Simon Says"
"The Name Game"
"Alvin and his Harmonica"
"Purple People Eater"
"All I Got For Christmas (is my two front teeth)"
that itsy bitsy bikini song

and at least fifty others.

There is an asian man that comes to the karaoke shows I frequent who does this song, and I have to tell you - it's HILARIOUS. He can barely pronounce 90% of the words, has no timing, and dances throughout the whole thing. It truly is something that cannot be done justice by words. He gets paid to come to people's partiesand "perform."

Some others he does are "She Bangs" and "Great Balls of Fire."

...and at least fifty others.

Now you're starting to sound like the commercials for those records! LOL

I don't remember ol' Spike....... but for some strange reason, your post jarred a memory. Does anybody remember Dickie Goodman ? he released a few novelty "songs" that made the top 10 in the early 70's....the most famous of which was called "Mr. Jaws."

The records were a spoof of a news reporter asking "on the scene" questions of eyewitnesses about a breaking news event, and the questionees answers came in the form of a short musical snippet from a recent top 40 hit.....they were kind of fun, at least to my 10 year old mind....

Man, Haven't thought about those in a looooooooooong time !
