I was able to get the 10th anniversary addition through Amazon.com. It's a 2 DVD set with out takes from the session where they record the solo parts. Steve step up and nailed his part each and every time then he's step back and sit down and wait. Great man and video.

Please don't generalize - most here have not criticized Cyndi.

At the time this was recorded, Kim Carnes was very popular - she is also a respected song writer.

One more story:

There was no fancy catering or craft service table. At one point some of the accompaning spouses and "friends" took a few cars and headed to Jack-In-the-Box for burgers and fries for all.

I saw an interview with Lionel Richie on tv about it and he said Steve called him the morning after they finished it. He said Steve was crying and asked if they'd really done what he thought they'd done.

Did anyone else notice that Steve was in the background trying to explain what was wrong with the sequence with Huey, Cindy and Kim?

My favorite part of the WATW story is the one where Steve gets into the control room, sees Michael Jackson and says "Am I dreaming?"

Haha...It was OK to be in the same room with MJ back then...

In an interview on GMA about it he said Michael got an autograph from him for one of his friends. Michael was just an eccentric singer back then, not an eccentric pedophile. Image

Perry sings at 4:35. Here's the clip.

Couple of observations. Michael Jackson, Diana Ross and Perry are immensely talented singers, Lauper is a skank and Springsteen looks like he just crawled out of a garbage can.

SP next to Willie Nelson. I don't imagine that we will see that ever again.

Also, what's Dan Ackroyd doing in there (top row)? Does Elwood Blues really count?

I saw her a few years ago. She opened for Cher. Cher's stage show was AMAZING and a spectacle, Cyndi came out, sang her head off, (she was sick) and I left with more of an impression of her and her greatness than I had anyone in a long time.

It just seems a little immature to trash other artists, but you know, this board isn't known for it's maturity. is it?

She had a special on VH!Classic, "Cyndi Lauper and Friends", or whatever...a concert with a bunch of guest stars. She also had her own "spotlight" show to promote a "A Body Accoustic". She has an absolutely amazing voice and can hold her own with ANY other singer you can think of. The same goes for her writing talents. I was never much of a fan, she just never intersted me...but her she IS impressive if you listen with an unbiased point of view.

Speaking of John Candy - here's Canada's contribution (JC appears at the very end of this).

I love Neil Young in this - not sure he knows where he is.

That was neat to see again, I haven't seen that in years. Great taste Lar, Burton Cummings is one of my favs too.....liked almost everything he has sang with the Guess Who or solo. LOL, Neil Young looks totally out of it. For some reason, Cory Hart just makes me laugh.

Deb, thanks for getting those caps up...one of these days I'm gonna have time to learn all this computery stuff. :)

As for the other performers...I caught some recent concerts on t.v., one was Cyndi Lauper, another Hall & Oats and I was quite impressed with their talent. I've always liked CL's "Time after Time" but I thought she was pretty amazing at 50 or so...Daryl Hall sounded so soulful on a recent concert. Same for Heart...Ann Wilson could still belt it out. Maybe, it has to do with having lived life, gone through much more & bringing it out.

Daryl Hall is AMAZING live. I try to go see him at least once a year! They do requests too, sometimes starting one song, going nah & then doing another. His voice is awesome. He looks really good too, still sexy at 60!
