IMO what the current line up is doing would have been right down Johns street, constant touring, heavy sound etc plus being with his brother during his illness.
That seems to be C. Panozzo's view as well. I haven't seen him show up at any DDY concerts.
I have seen him at Styx shows and involved in each new Styx album as well as included in album photos.

They actually did "Dear John" in concert. At the end they flashed a huge pic on the screen of JP in his hey day. Below the pic it simply read, "Rockin' in Paradise".
