New songs for Dennis

Postby froy » Thu Jul 21, 2005 12:39 pm

I heard a DJ in Milwaukee asked Dennis about Jennifer to try live
I also heard a close friend asked him about Lords Of The Ring
I heard he sang First Time in NY
And I also hear about a few more comming soon,

I will give Dennis credit he sure is trying new stuff

While Styx keeps doing the same thing over and over and over and

I'm sure he'll be adding his new material soon. I love hearing Styx songs that I never heard live before. I would love to hear "I'm Okay" live!!

I can't wait for "Pieces of Eight"!!! :)

I would love to hear Jennifer, but you really need that three part harmony in the beginning.

Froy, I thought you were announcing the release date of Dennis’s new CD with the way the title of your tread read. Does anyone have any info on a label and/or date for this CD? What’s the hold up? On a side note I have heard rumbling of an early 07 date for the next Styx (all new) CD.

What is the hold up with BOTH SIDES ???

Dennis supposedly has all this new material ready to go, but is too busy playing live shows to put it out on a CD ??? ( Holy SCHIZOPHRENIA Batman !!!!! )

and Styx isn't going to put out a CD of new material for another 18 months ???? that means a gap of 4 years between Studio releases....
I sense there's some writers block in the air at Camp Styx. Are these guys at the end of their creative careers ? :?

Oh well, I'll take quality at a snails pace over quantity that's mediocre.

Styx lost Glen Burtnick and Dennis DeYoung

I think the delay on the Styx CD is because you will be seeing Mr Shaw join forces with Mssrs Theodore Nugent, Jack Blades and Michael Cartellone for a world tour in 2006 of a certain group they all played in a few years ago...........watch this space, theres also a chance of a new CD or mini CD/EP to coincide with the tour....

I wonder if Ted will let Tommy play the intro to Babe as Tommy lost a lot of guitars on that tour because of Uncle Ted.....

Damn Yankees in 2006?! SWEET!
Plus there is the Shaw-Blades Covers CD.

So Tommy is too busy for STYX? Sounds like NEal Schon with Journey. JSS is meeting him after shows to collaborate on the next Soul SirkUS CD!! Focus people FOCUS!!

STYX could take 2 months off and Tommy could do the Damn Yankees Tour and slide right back into a STYX Tour again without missing a beat. The only difference is one would tour in May/June and the other would tour in July/August. Both would be in the summer. Hell, they could tour together but it would probably kill Tommy's voice. Unless they both do 75 minute sets...Hmmm

Tommy has said that Damn Yankees is just one of those groups where the guys get together and it seems like they have never been apart.

Just food for thought.

One last thought, I don't think Universal will wait until 2007 for a new Styx album.

I think that the yankees are up next for sure
Like the front page of MR says there second cd sold 500 K
While Styx can 't even crack 50 k
Shaw goes where the money is and a DY reunion would bring in a nice payday. You could see a DY Skynard double bill nect year IMO

He gave 6 wasted years Im sure he wants a break

Sounds like NEal Schon with Journey.

Journey is in big trouble
The Augeri era is not going so well
The buzz is dead
If Perry wants the gig I say give it to him
And dump Dean as well bring in Machine Gun .

I was told about Damn Yankees by 2 people close to the band when Styx toured the UK. The new Styx recording in 2007 will definately take place as they have a 3 CD deal with Universal to honor.

DY has been in planning/idea stage since they hooked up for the Alice Cooper benefit last year.

Lots to look forward to in the next 18 months....new NR, new KK, Shaw/Blades (due out now in October) and even more :)

Yeah, yet another succesful summer tour.
How positively awful.
That makes how many in a row now?

Get your facts straight;
The Augeri era never had any buzz.
All they ever had was consistent touring revenues and that's exactly what they still have.

I predicted a few weeks ago that Froy the Deserter would give up on Journey in the same cravenly manner he gave up on Styx.
Seems I was right.
All over something so trifling as the varieagating of lead singers on their new album.
How capricious.

When he finds out you can still buy DDY tickets for the 4th row he might give up on him too.............but that woud be like George Michael giving up on public restrooms.......

Froy: While Styx keeps doing the same thing over and over and over and
Adam: That's right. By putting out an album of all new originals (Cyclo), an album of covers (the band's NEVER done that before), playing the Superbowl (another thing they'd NEVER done), working with head Beach Boy Brian Wilson, and touring Europe and Japan (for the first time in 20 years), that band is really lazy and unadventurous.

Meanwhile, that Dennis sure has kept playing those oldies...how new.

There was a huge buzz when he joined Remember Me was a great tune
Everyone loved the guy
Now they let him sit out the first half of the show
Perry would have never stood for that .

The Augeri era may not be doing GREAT, but I think it is doing fine for the boys.

Perry doesn't want the gig...he has made that clear.

I get the impression that Smitty does not really want to work with Perry (or Journey) again. But if Perry WERE to comeback Deeno would obviously be "over-qualified" since he would not be allowed to sing in the band anymore. Unless he helps Perry with all the high notes Perry can no longer hit...

As Jon Cain said in a recent interview,

"I’ve been a lead singer all of my life. I made solo albums, and I would go to radio stations with my solo album, and they would say ‘Why weren’t you singing in Journey?’ That would be the big question. I’d say, ‘Well, Steve Perry wouldn’t allow it.’ That would just be that. So this is pretty cool.”
