Are you guys ever right about the CR stations playing the same stuff over & over & over & over &...! I think you've hit the nail on the head here. I imagine that the majority of those who listen to CR stations don't own that much CR music themselves. I wonder how much of that is the result of the medium switchover, from albums/tapes to CDs/mp3? Back in the day for most of those bands we consider Classic Rock, CDs weren't available or were just starting to make an appearance on the scene. Most of these fans probably owned (and may still own) the LPs but have very few of them on CD. Styx is a prime example; I owned the A&M LPs, bought them when they came out, but didn't purchase the CDs when they came out because, well LPs & players were still easy to come by & much cheaper than the new equipment. Why waste my money? It's not like they were actually going to replace LPs with CDs, or anything.
