5. Come sale away.
Speaking of that song LG's vocals sound more like the original then DDY's vocals do these days. DDY's voice is still very good but his age is really starting to show through. Before you all start ripping me listen to the new Come Sail Away right after you listen to the original then listen to DDY's newest live version.

How come they didn't do any songs of their "greatest record" ... Cyclorama?

Doesn't hold water... the put on songs from the 70s, but not their LATEST records... why not put on in an exclusive fashion, songs from Big Bang and Cyclorama? That would support your premise more.

Aren't you proud of the songs you chose for Big Bang? Or is it that collective cringe that was issued after we all heard Manic Depression for the first (and last) time. Why would you chose to redo Lorelei? Is it because that is the song you are best known for? Is it the song most people identify you with? Is it the song the fans are clamoring to get yet ANOTHER version of?
Why would you do that? I can really only think of two reasons why artists release the songs they do. For money outright, or for an artistic/personal motive. When artists sell out, the music shows it to be so. When an artist makes a 'personal' record (see the last couple Bruce Springsteen albums) it is also apparent.
Was JY trying to sell out? Are the fans demanding a JY sung studio version of Lorelei? Does the band think that Lorelei can make more money than any other JY song? Probably not. So what is the personal motive? The more skeptical of us may think it's yet another way JY is trying to rewrite Styx history in his own image while sticking up his middle finger at Dennis yet again.
I could be completely off base, but it does make you wonder.

And if that's the motivation, it's ironic (at least to me ) that all it does is highlight how much the band DOES need Dennis.....

Please explain how Universal had anything to do with this iTunes release.

I just re-read the posts on this thread and I did post the information.
Just in case you didn't see Ash's post too, here is what I posted Monker:

Lorelie has been played in concert over the last several years in their extended shows. No doubt they want a version with JY singing lead out there.

STYX has had a ton of albums, they had a ton of songs to pick from. It's so obvious why they added this one!
