Just for fun - working links!

Now that we know I'm an idiot and can't make simple working links...let's try again

Speaking of how much or how not much (ha!) Larry sounds like DDY,
let' s have a vote on these two mystery singers. Head to the link below and check out the sound sampes. Which one sounds more like DDY?

Neither of them do to me. If pressed, I might say Singer 1.

Singer 2 sounds nothing like him to me.

lol...I think both have parts that sound like Dennis. The second one, at the beginning, had that throaty sound (breathy?) that DDY makes a lot, but it reminded me of Savotage more than anything.

So, spill!

The quality is so poor I wouldn't want to choose.

Soloud, This was fun, thanks for posting :)

I think #1 sounded a little more like Dennis. A little of Dennis mixed with Geoff Tate.

#2 sounded like #1 - LOL but, I can hear a tiny bit of Dennis.

I wish I knew how to download songs, I have clips that you'd swear it was Dennis :)

Well next time I will make sure I bloat the file to something like 320kb/s

And to answer Zan:
Singer 1 is named Dan Reed. He sings for a band called Vox Tempus. Several of the reviews I read mentioned that he sounds a bit like DDY

Singer 2 is named Josh Pincus. He sings for a band called Ice Age. Same thing on the reviews for him as well.

I hear a bit of DDY in both but I also have multiple songs I've heard by both bands on which to base that.

And last...Zan - sounds like Savatage? Not sure I hear that but I do agree with your description of Zak Stevens singing style.

Well, maybe not Savotage...but it's got that operatic rock thing going on - Geoff Tate-ish too. I can see Dennis pulling it off, but that's never been his groove.

I heard the clips just fine, Soloud. But then, I have a good set of speakers attached to my computer.

Thanks for the fun links. I enjoyed the "quiz".

Agreed...has that typical high end prog rock vocal quality

I believe he said it was Vox Tempus and the singer was Dan Reed.

Both have some similarities to DDY. I've heard only one other Ice Age song and while I cannot remember it's name, I do remember thinking the singer had similar sounds once in a while to Dennis.

Thanks for sharing.

Neither is new stuff really

http://www.vox-tempus.com/

You can get the full mp3 of the song I clipped on their site (which is scary bad). I havent heard the full cd, just this song and one more I found somewhere

http://www.ice-age.com/

Sounds samples only. They have two full length cds out that you can get from online cd shops. These guys sort of follow the Dream Theater school of music if you like that sort of thing

Sure, I can 'hear' them. But, not well enough to say they do or don't sound like Dennis. They sound like MP3's stripped down to stream for a 1400 baud modem. I don't think you can judge much from that...which is why there is such a wide variety of opinion.
