Styx Soundstage

Postby froy » Thu Sep 08, 2005 5:28 am

If I were a current Styx fan I certainly would not be too happy that they are fiming there soundstage in Indiana, The Star Plaza is a terrible venue for a rock show. I will bet everyone just sits durning the show just like they did in Rockford for Dennis, Chicago is there home town why are they not filmimg in Chicago , I guess selling 600 seats at the Vic Theater would look pretty lame. JY is looking at Dennis's success and trying to copy it by doing a soundstage, Im am glad the entire world can now see just how bad Gowan is. They will all see just how badly Dennis is missed.
Also why a Soundstage now the band is done for a few years. makes 0 sense.

Dreamer you know you are a Dreamer.

When Dennis taped the first Soundstage, they had a stage built for him. He was the first on the recent Soundstage to be taped. If I'm not mistaken, I thought STYX was the first band to be on the first Soundstage in the early 1970's. Those tapes have been accidently destroyed.

They'll be giving tickets away for this show, by the way. Which isn't bad.

Yes, the early 1970's in Chicago, you were probably too young to know about it

I'll try to find the pictures.

I thought I remembered Dennis saying 1972. It was the pilot Soundstage episode. As he says, mercifully the tapes were not kept because, as he puts it "I was fat then."

I never saw if it aired or not and he did not say.

They first aired in 1974. I thought all the old tapes were destroyed accidently.

You GO girl! I saw him talking about it on one of the PD's he did and, honestly, am not sure of the year he mentioned.

I'm not going to bed until I find out all the details - LOL

Here's what I found out so far, Soundstage aired from 1974-1985. The early ones were never and will never be released because of all the copyrights. Damn Copyrights!!!!

I'm trying to find out what happened to the Styx one. I'm waiting for a call back either today or tomorrow - LOL

Add this one to my list of stuff I'm looking for along with the Hawaii one that's out there, one of Tommy's first concerts - LOL

Someday I'll have all the footage out there - LOL

I want to say that Dennis called the program by another name when Styx debuted it. I believe it is on the first Chicago pledge drive that he says what it was called. Suite? Bugsy?

LOL, I'll have to go through all the videos and DVD's. Was Chicago the first Pledge drive we have? LOL When does he talk about it? Hopefully at the beginning. I'll have to check.

Maybe it was 1972 and maybe it was before Soundstage. I'm pretty sure those tapes are the ones that were destroyed by water, the one with STYX.

Yes very first pledge drive. I believe he talks about it on the first break. Not sure though.

Chicago Tonight..different show altogether. For shame! Pitiful memory you have  Think white kitchen there for that show.
