I noticed on the other thread that Lady, Babe, Best Of Times, Mr. Roboto, Don't Let It End, and Show Me The Way all charted higher than Come Sail Away. As a Styx fan, which of those songs, if any, do you like or think is better than Come Sail Away? (Or if you prefer, just rank them in order of your preference). I'm just curious.

To answer my own question, I think Come Sail Away is far superior to the others. Just my opinion. Interested to hear what everyone else thinks.

I agree CSA is epic. It is musically and lyrically rich and complex. It has "highs and lows and never lets go" (I know the quote is from a different song) how many people paid attention to the lyrics enough to realize there was a UFO's in the song (I mean when first heard it). The song also has an interesting story regarding how it came to be. TS takes some credit and connects it to a song from his former band Tradewinds.

Can someone post an anatomy of the songs creation? It would be an interesting post - how's this : someone who knows nothing about this song research it and post a History and Origin of CSA and one or more Styx geeks do the same. If you choose to accept this as a project please post here that you will do it, then make your post without reading anyone else's post. In other words not plagiarism. I will repost this as a new subject under the subject "Come Sail Away - The story behind the song"

This is not the order in which I enjoy, but the order that I believe they should go under, if based on which features better songwriting.

1.Come Sail Away
2.Mr. Roboto
3.Show Me The Way
4.Babe
5.Best Of Times
6.Lady
7.Don't Let It End

although there are days when Rick Dees kinda gets on my nerves, and Roboto moves slightly ahead of his masterpiece ( albeit only temporarily...... )

OK, had to think about this one some:

1. Lady - The song that brought me to Styx. Still one of the best power ballads ever. Should have been No. 1.
2. Come Sail Away - I listened to that song every time it came on the radio and played it a LOT from the album.
3. Show Me the Way – One of the most powerful songs from Dennis DeYoung. And I love the video for it. Also should have been No. 1.
4. Best of Times - Not one of my faves, but a very good song and one that can be the “soundtrack” to a lot of situations.
5. Mr. Roboto – OK, I like this song. Love the beat. Some of the lyrics were way ahead of their times. You can robot dance to it. I give it a 9.5.
6. Babe - Sigh……
7. Don't Let It End - Was never a fan of this one, but I kinda actually like how he sings it in concert now.

Congratulations! You're still the same.

Using the Borda method (7 pts for first, 6 for second, etc.), the average point totals thus far are:

1. Come Sail Away 6.7
2. Best Of Times 4.9
3. Lady 4.5
4. Show Me The Way 3.7
5. Mr. Roboto 2.9
6. Don't Let It End 2.4
7. Babe 2.3

In terms of being ranked first, CSA was ranked first on 5 of our lists and Lady twice. No other songs were ranked first.
