Asia and other 80's bands.

I saw Asia at the Mn State Fair a few months ago. I thought they were good.It was the first time I ever saw them.Although it was wierd to not see Wetten with them anymore.I do like Payne though. The wierd part of the concert was it was getting stormy while they were playing and so that gave some of thier music a menancing feel.Lol.So just wondering what other people think of Asia.Or any other 80's forgotten bands.

THE NEW WETTON/DOWNES CD "ICON" IS FAR BETTER THAN ANY PAYNE LED ASIA RELEASE....

I SEEN ASIA 3 TIMES IN MARCH WITH THE MIGHTY DARE AND BOTH BANDS WERE AWESOME

I should buy that...I think Andrew gave it an OK review too.

Asia hasn't been the same since Steve Howe left, even when Wetton was still in the band.

Quite mellow, but very smooth indeed. Quality music.

Asia rocks! they sounded fantastic when I saw them for the first time in Manchester, and the last night being the best in Cardiff at The Point, wow! is all I can say:) I loved them, Payne does have a good voice, Chris Slade is an animal on the drums, could hardly keep my eyes off of him, he's amazing, I have a few killer pic's of them as well sweat pouring off of his face..very cool, Geoff Downes is an amazing keyboardist and so great to watch, lvoe when he stretches from side to side playing 2 and sometimes 3 keyboards at once...he's fantastic..Guthrie pulls the best faces and so fun to watch and amazing to listen to....truly loved this band live and can't wait until they tour here....hopefully FLorida sometime soon.

unfortunately Chris is not with them anymore, Darren adn i were lucky enough to get a pic with him though, and also with Geoff Downes..great memories with my sweetie Darren and two great bands..Asia and Dare

Anybody got a fave Asia song? I really like Heat of The Moment,The Smile has left Your Eyes,Only Time Will Tell,Don't Cry,Anytime,Who Will Stop The Rain,Arena,Soul Survivor. But the one song I could listen to 100 times in a row is Days like these. That song makes me feel I can conquer the world.Lol.Any other opinion? And Silent Nation is a good album.

That's hard for me to say....Out of all their stuff, I like the more Progressive stuff on the debut, like "Soul Survivor". It seems like they sorta squezed Steve Howe out of the creative process for the second album so it wasn't quite as progressive and more pop music. I always did like "The Smile Has Left Your Eyes" though. With the exception of "Go", I didn't care for the third album much...probably because Steve Howe wasn't there at all. The live Mokba (sp?) CD/video was pretty good. The King Crimson covers were pretty cool. Aqua was the last Asia album I bought. I always thought Payne sounded a bit like Perry and caused Asia to sound a bit like Journey...but he looks a bit 'odd' on the pics on the insert. Aqua was OK but it just didn't grab me like any of their previous stuff did...and I haven't bought any of their stuff since.

You know, just as I set my music selection with the songs I listen to on a regular basis you guys would have to bring back another group that I haven't listened to in some time and now can't get a couple of their songs out of my head. Now i gotta break out those cd's. Asia's music was solid. Some of the most talented musicians at the time. The debut album was a must listen cover to cover. now on to find those cd's.
