Wedding songs to dance to?

Postby LeesaFL » Thu Sep 15, 2005 3:02 pm

Hello all-
As some of you know already, Darren and I will be getting married in October, a place called Pelican Beach Club in Satellite Beach.....also the place D proposed
We have a lot of songs chosen but was just wondering what everyone thinks about a first dance song?
And I'm looking for something for me and my step dad to dance to...
any and all suggestions appreciated

With Your Love
Journey Arrival

With Your Love Lyrics
by Journey

On this day...To be standing here with you
There's no doubt...I know this love is true
See my tears...Only you can understand
A state of grace...I feel blessed to hold your hand
There's a room in my heart and you've unlocked a door
That no one's ever opened before

Chorus:
With your love I'm not alone
In your world...I'm never far away from home
A life I thought I'd never find...
In your eyes I see all that I am with your love

On my own...I searched for something more
In your arms...The kiss I've waited for
I was lost for words...To say what's in my heart
Just to be close...To the beauty that you are
If someone could see to the end of our lives
I know they'd find me there by your side

(Repeat chorus)

I've walked among the lonely...
Watching lovers come and go
Fate finds us here as one...You are salvation to my soul

(Repeat chorus)

With your love
With your love

Congratuations :)

Let's see, I'll have to find the song lists from my wedding (LOL). I think the song that my Dad and I danced was something My Little Girl or Daddy's Girl or Thank God She's Out of the House - LOL. "Wind Beneath My Wings" might be nice.

My wedding song was "Unchained Melody", I wanted all STYX songs back then but I had to compromise - LOL I had the band play "Best of Times", "Babe" and of course "Lady".

The Macarena and The Chicken Dance! Wait!! Those are for after everyone is fueled up on the champagne. :o

"From This Moment" done by Shania Twain and Bryan White is a really nice song and I think is used at a lot of weddings.

Here's a toast to you and Darren from Texas, and, since it is early in the morning, I really mean "toast."

My father & I danced to Judy Collins' version of The Beatles' "In My Life." It was perfect. John & I danced to "Ever Since the World Began" from Ambition. Thank good I still don't think of that when I hear it. LOL

Without question or hesitation -- Move Me by Nazareth (if you can find it). At least, that's the song I'd pick. Gawd, I love that beautiful song.

For you and Darren, it'll be cliche but "Love of A Lifetime" by Firehouse. :)

here's a few:

Beginnings - Chicago
Maybe I'm Amazed - Paul McCartney
Suddenly - Billy Ocean

and from the Schlocky hall of fame ( but very wedding appropriate )

Longer - Dan Fogelberg
If- Bread
Colour My World - Chicago

I always thought You and Me by Alice Cooper was a really cool song for a purpose like this too.....

Longer - Dan Fogelberg

I have sung this at several weddings and it really is a very simple, very beautiful song.

Frankly, DF has a better song, but it's not well known, called

"Since you've asked" off of "Twin sons of different Mothers" that I like better for a newlywed couple.

a very beautiful song.

Well theres some interesting choices here and some I want to listen to some I have never heard of lol.....ok suite get out the old wedding tapes, I'm curious to what you chose for your wedding.
I'll let ya know what we decide on....
Darren won't tell me what he chose for me, so I'm not telling him what I chose for him
The main song for us together is Bobby Kimball...."Your All I Ever Needed"
it's "our" song.
we have lots of choices for the other two, of course keeping DARE in the top 3 lol, I've decided to walk down the aisle very untraditionally to DARES.."We Were Friends" using the instrumental part in the beginning and how perfect the song is as it's how we began, and Darren Wharton uses the ocean in the background so it will mix in nicely with the real ocean lol.
Thanks all any suggestions for me and my step dad?
He's fun as hell always happy and I want something like that instead of the traditional "Butterfly Kisses" or "Daddy's Little Girl"
D and I are off to Tampa JOURNEY BABY!!!!! so we'll get this on sunday.
thanks for the help

I love this song and have often thought of having it at my wedding with my brother playing trumpet.

Some of my other choices:

Father/daughter dance: Nat and Natalie Cole's Unforgettable
First dance: True Love Ways by Buddy Holly. Old tune, but great simple heartfelt meaning.

There's a beautiful song, a duet performed by the group Newsong and someone (sorry, her name escapes me) called "When God Made You". I believe one of the band members wrote it for his (or his daughter's?) wedding. Sorry I'm sketchy on the details, but love the song. I may be singing it at my baby brother's wedding in a couple of weeks.

Fantastic song! Fantastic arrangement!

And this is also the very obvious choice for Father/Daughter - "Dance Wiith My Father" -Luther Vandross

Evil Eyes says:

That would be Natalie Grant.

Leesa says:

ACK!! I can't stand watching anything with me in it. I was giggling too much during the ceremony and at the reception I was having a little TOO much fun. I don't do those things anymore, giggle or have too much fun - LOL

I'll see if I can dig up the tape from the vaults. I'm curious too since my memory is pretty much gone.
