Bootlegs for sale

Was just over looking at Styx items for sale on e-bay.......I'd like to get a hold of some live music from the 1975-1980 era. There appears to be a dealer out of Quebec who has a recording from their tour supporting Crystal Ball.

Can anyone advise me on:

- Bootlegs I should be looking for
- Bootlegs to avoid
- Dealers to avoid

any advice appreciated.

Certain boots have multiple names (for example one from 1978 goes by both Native Sons and Pieces of Eleven). You might want to check your messages...

I have been looking at those too.There is no mention of the sound quality.
They sure look interesting though.

Studio Jam ILL.1-1-77 A-
King Bisquit Flower Hour 1976 A+.
I have several others, but are really hard to listen to more than once.

I have the Pieces Of Eleven CD.I believe the concert was recorded in the mens restroom about 500 feet and thru 2 lobbies from the stage. The two flushes you hear at the beginning of Lady are barely noticeable.

But when you hear 'this place smells nasty' and 'ya got any toilet paper over there' during Midnight Ride you know youve been ripped off.

I would reccommend it to Styx fans who suffer from bladder problems.

Ah Yogi..what would we do without you?

Studio Jam is excellent. I also like Chastain Park symphony show (even though it's from the RTP tour and not the 70's).

Love the Equinox boot from 1975-76.

Not hard to like the men in the beginning of their heyday.

I would LOVE to hear the Equinox boot from 1975/1976. What songs do they perform?

I also have the studio jam CD and it is EXCELLENT!!

The King Biscuit show is TRULY AWESOME!! The problem with that show is that there is only 3 Styx songs on it. They are: Born For Adventure, Lady and Lorelei.

Is there a full set King Biscuit show out there????

LOL, some of those boots do sound like they were recorded from the bottom of a deep well. And some of the bootleg videos can literally make you have motion sickness.

There are a few really good ones out there, though :wink:

You Need Love - LOVE IT!!

Sounds awesome live. It is a shame they were not signed with a more agressive label during those years. This song should have been a big hit for them along with Lady from that album.

I'd be curious to know the band's view on these, both from their own perspective about the shows that we are all talking about, and their view on boots in general. I'd imagine that they have heard them (or at least a majority of them).

I am sincerely asking here. Would you be comfortable knowing material you didn't authorize for sale was out there? Not saying good or bad. Just wondering. Native Sons/Pieces of Eleven and Studio Jam not withstanding since those were radio broadcasts originally.

In 1975 it only made it to #88. I wonder if "You Need Love" would've been a hit if they were with another label, hmmm. I still love that song. It's the very first STYX song that I ever heard, awww, brings back memories
