Forget the 14th Row

Postby Ash » Sat Oct 08, 2005 2:08 am

I went to the TPAC (Tennessee Performing Arts Center) ticket window and purchased my lone ticket to the October 5th performance by DDY and cast.

My ticket......

Orchestra Section: Row A: Seat 12.

This translates to: The front row, middle seat.

Anyone else going?

No wonder you got such a good seat!! You got a ticket for a concert that has already taken place. :P

I know. I know. You meant NOVEMBER 5th, LOL.

You be sure to give us a report, a setlist and a review, Ash, and have a great time!!!

How long have tickets been on sale? It looks like you may be the only one at the show.

Hey Ash, me and the family will be there.
I coulden't afford the top dollar seats so we went for the mid priced tickets and ended up on ORCH. level row T 11-8. Not too bad.
if it were not for the add on charges I would have gone for the higher dollar tickets.

By the way I met Dennis Friday when he came into the studio where I work do do an enterview. Really nice guy, I got an autograph and got to shake his hand. I'm really looking forward to the show.

Tickets went on sale this past Friday - but thanks for injecting "assholeishness" into this thread. Couldn't stand it could ya? On sale for 3 days and they're back to row T... thats about 60% of the downstairs section of the auditorium - say nothing of the cheaper seats in the balcony. So STFU. Thanks.

I have the same seat I was in when I went to see Kansas with Alan Parsons back in 1996. That was a memorable concert on many levels.

This should be a great time. I am really, really looking forward to this show. And frankly, I don't give a crap if I AM the only person at the show - because at least I will be there.

I could throw in some gratitutious slap at Styx here and how they played the Ryman ... which is about 500 seats smaller and Styx didn't sell but about 60% of it... but that would make me as bad as you now wouldn't it.

Very good. I'll keep a note and I'll drop by to say Hello :-D (don't be afraid). I'll be alone. I'll be the guy making an idiot of myself in the front row... I normally do at concerts. I really, REALLY get into things :)

Nah I'm good. I re-read what I wrote and I won't edit it - but I meant it more tongue in cheek than anything. I can understand how it sounded tho. So in the words of some famous politician "I'm sorry if you're offended".

Actually - I've not been in this great of a mood in a while. I've got four great concerts coming to Nashville in the next month. One I've already seen:

Queensryche (amazing)
Cold (This weekend)
Devildriver (Halloween)
Dennis DeYoung (November)

Not offended, just thought it was ironic/funny if you know what I mean.

I've seen Dennis twice and he puts on a nice show. It's not a stand up rock n roll show, but more of a sit down and enjoy show. You'll have a great time.

One thing you have to remember is that Ash bought a solo ticket. Since most seats are sold in pairs or more that odd seat on a row will hold for a longer time. I went to see the Motels/Outfield/Fixx/Asia/Berlin show in Atlanta in '01. The show had sold over 5,000 tickets when I found out about it, but I bought a 'solo' ticket anyway and got 5th row!

But after reading his post and knowing how people are around here, it was like watching a crash in slo-mo. The inevitability of downward turns is frustrating at times.

also what people don't realize is I was at the venue waiting outside the ticket office when they opened. They have two box offices... a public one and a more private one. When I passed the main lobby, there were about 5 or 10 people sitting around but not "in line" and when I went to the more secluded box office, there was nobody there.

So I was at the venue..... at the exact time tickets went on sale. I did this exact same thing for Alan Parsons and Kansas when they were there 10 years earlier... and that show nearly sold out.
