Styx Music on "Cold Case"

Postby bugsymalone » Mon Oct 10, 2005 11:13 pm

For the second time a Styx song has been featured on the very highly rated CBS program Cold Case as part of its backgroun/foreground music. Last night's episode featured the opening section of "Come Sail Away."

An episode from, I believe, two years ago featured "Best of Times."

Cool.

Doesn't anyone remember the old days of "Styx featuring Dennis DeYoung"? I remember the old bookings from years ago. Styx was also known as "Dennis DeYoung and 4 Guys Named Moe" back then.

LOL! A band by the name of Styx recorded Come Sail Away for the album The Grand Illusion. The lead singer was Dennis DeYoung. He was also the songwriter for this particular song.

Cold Case used the opening part of "Come Sail Away", just Dennis and piano. But it was the version recorded for TGI.

Styx was in excellent company on this particular program -- Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers "American Girl" and Aerosmith "Dream On" were also used (and one other, which escapes me at the moment. Sadie???)

This kind of music exposure is huge for anyone played on these very popular televison programs. A very coveted thing for sure.

Saw it. Cold Case is a great show, told the wife when the storyline started off in 1978, betcha they play a Styx song. Ambrosia was also in there too. Also caught an old King of the Hill rerun today, with Blue Collar Man playing in the background.

All I know is this is a hugely popular show and my guess is both modern and classic artists are falling all over themselves, and their managers, to get their music played on it.

I will ponder your "deep thoughts", Classic ...... Ok. Done! :P
