After the current Styx tour winds down and the Damn Yankee machine starts to crank back up, what if Tommy and Dennis did collaborate a little. Nothing as much as an album or a tour, but what if they did a one night charity show?

Yes this is gonna be one of those which band would you see scenarios/assembly lines.

Styx 6.0 is without Tommy and can't use that name to promote itself, but would like to play at the concert as well (it is for charity after all). Glen gets coaxed out of retirement for a night, but in order to not offend anyone agrees to play guitar for BOTH bands. Chuck also agrees to do guest appearances for BOTH bands. Since Tommy has been doing Damn Yankees work, he gets Michael Cartellone to play drums and Jack Blades on Bass.

Because neither band is using the Styx name, any music from the catalog of any of the members is up for grabs.

In one band you have Larry/JY/Glen/Todd/Ricky/Chuck

in the other Dennis/Tommy/Glen/Jack/Michael/Chuck

you can only see one band, which one is it?

I've had pretty many of my wild and crazy dreams come true in my lifetime. You can ask a few people on this board

Anything can happen - "Never Say Never". I feel one day, one day soon, maybe next year, that there will be one show with Mr. Dennis DeYoung and Mr. Tommy Shaw up on the same stage harmonizing one more time. Yes, this is just a "fantasy" not any "inside information" that I'm spouting off to any of you newbies - LOL

If I were to pick one of Scott's bands to see it would be:

in the other Dennis/Tommy/Glen/Jack/Michael/Chuck

I would LOVE to see this line-up.

Great thread Scott :)

While the proposal you raise is interesting in theory, I can honestly say that neither appeals to me.

Unlike Suite, I think the idea of Shaw and DeYoung together is terrible and have no desire whatsoever to take part in it. That's my personal view and I don't expect anyone else to have it.

If that were to come to pass, I'd take a pass.

Peace

I'm sure there are a few people right on this board that would agree with you.

If that were to come to pass, I'd take a pass.

Hey, even if you had a FREE ticket to the show and you were with me???? I love FREE stuff and I love my friends. Today is love everyone on the board day - LOL :)

I like you and I know where you live..ha ha. But no, a free ticket and your company would not sway me. As for FREE stuff...I tend to view it with a jaundiced eye...meaning...I think very, very few things in this world are free, and I;m just not into free stff all that much.

Please... humor me and tell me what makes you think "one day soon" if at all that these two guys would get together and do a show?

Oh one hand you admit it's fantasy but on the other you say you feel it would happen.

I don't imagine things and then expect them to happen based on nothing.

I'm not that good at humoring people (LOL) but I'll try for you, whoever you are. I'm just thinking life is too short and I think if this were to come true it would come true sooner than later.

Oh one hand you admit it's fantasy but on the other you say you feel it would happen.

It's a total "fantasy" of mine and I just feel that this could really happen. I think if both of these gentlemen were offered the right venue, the right date, the right proposal and the right amount of money they could or maybe would play one more time together on the same stage. Anything could happen.

I don't imagine things and then expect them to happen based on nothing.

That's great and I'm glad that you don't imagine things and then expect them to happen based on nothing.

By the way DarwinNebraska, how long have you been a STYX fan? I'm just curious.

Summerfest...in the rain watching...The Toys...good god, how to not be a good rock band (I'm still shuddering Suite). Dr. Dee-Lite...now there's a memory for you.

I think you're great company, but the track record there...hmmmm

I never said I didn't want to hang with my good buddy Suite (after all, she's survived following me in Chi Town traffic). Just not this concert.

Now let's put this thread back on track. Scott's idea is fine, just not for me.

Sadie,

You party pooper.

Just remember that it wouldn't be a 'Styx' show, but an opportunity to see one of two combinations of talented musicians.

But, you'd have to bring the popcorn.

Helllooooo, Scott!!!! Your original question got kinda....lost???

I am in the Sadie camp not wanting to see Dennis join up with Tommy or any Tommy affiliated anythings including yard sales and/or karaoke nights.

If someone, say, paid for my flight, hotel, dinner and took me in their minivan, and shoved me through the door, I would only be there for the combo with Dennis that you list.

Ya know at this time of year...those are fighting words my good man

I am up to my eyeballs in the afore mentioned product.

And yeah I know it wouldn't be billed as Styx. I just honestly would prefer the men to remain apart.

Now if you're just having a party..I'll grab Bugsy AND even supply the popcorn on our way over.

Okay Rock'nDeano :) Whenever you're in the Midwest, just let me know. We'll get together for a concert, especially if it's DeYoung & Shaw concert :) Like I said, I'm sure you're a blast at a concert :)

I know you cleaned up, I'm just giving you a hard time. :)

I'll have you stay with me, I'll take you out for dinner or make dinner for you (LOL) we'll be in the Dennis concert Minivan, with appropiate bumper stickers (LOL) and maybe after I win the lottery I can pay for your flight. I'll even pick up Sadie with the popcorn and of course Froy - with the Streisand & Gibb cds and we're on the way!!!!

How could you say no to that?????

Ok, that is so wrong to do to someone! lol...

I guess I can see myself seeing Larry/JY/Glen/Todd/Ricky/Chuck more, I think.

Blades does nothing for me, I'd take Todd over any drummer you can find...and no "Babe."

A new Styx album and/or a DY album sounds better to me and is more interesting to me then these lineups that have no basis in reality.

I was just listening to Generations today and thought to my self, "Self, 'Gone Crazy' would be an awesome DY song...Tommy and Jack harmonizing, with Tommy taking lead, and Ted/Tommy doing the guitar thang....Geez, that would be awesome...MUCH better then Journey becoming a morphed version of ZZ Top and Van Halan."

I also heard a rumor of a possible date in Brookings SD, about an hour up the road from me(Mystic is about three from here). If you're buying Deano, I might give them another chance to redeem themselves.

They're suppose to be working on a new Carrot Styx cd next year and it's suppose to be released in 2007, I guess that's their gameplan so far.

As for DY, so you think they're really going to get back together and record an a album/cd? I think maybe they'll perform again, not a tour, maybe a few dates and that's it. What happened to all the songs from their 3rd album? I think Jack used a few for himself, Tommy put one or two on the Carrot cd (?) so there's a few more songs somewhere, right?

I think honestly if Styx does decide to take some time off then perhaps DY will get together to record and perhaps play a few dates. However, I don't think it's something that will happen in the next year.

As for trains...love them. Had a ball in Europe on all the trains.

Me? Classy? Awe shucks
