I've got a few years to spare if anyone wants them. Who wants to be 23 again? Takers?

Maybe.

It would come with a fringe benefit. I could get grandfathered into the grocery store I work at (meaning, that I could work there under the old store policies, before they were bought out.) With it, I could dictate my own hours, and work for wages that I feel I'm worth. There are a couple long-time cashiers at work who have this benefit. Everyone else has to settle for part-time minimum wage.

Age is a funny thing! There are (many) moments when I feel older than I am - first thing in the morning, everytime I step off the treadmill and think "Nope, shouldn't have done that!!", when I've been sitting too long and have to do that 'rocking' motion before getting to my feet, and the worst one - when I've been daft enough to sit on the floor!!!

But there are also times when I don't feel my age at all - everytime my mates come round with their children and I'm talking about the latest album/cinema release/gig and they mumble on about the latest beeny baby/dora the explorer/price of nappies!!!

I think on the whole, I'm happy where I am in life - although I'm not looking forward to everything slipping downhill. They say it happens VERY fast!!! I'm lucky enough to be healthy, I don't have to wear glasses (yet!), I can hear well enough (but am learning lip reading in readiness!!) and have only found the odd grey hair (now nicely covered up under highlights!!)

I don't want to be young again - I don't want the pressure of having to start to 'progress' through life - I'm already halfway there! What I would like, is to turn the years clock back but retain my years, i.e. make it about 1985 again, but me still be the age I am, so that I can have the money, freedom and sense to go to all those GREAT gigs in the 80s and have an absolute ball!!!!!

Of course, retaining all my knoweldge of what is to come would be good so that I can bet on all the right teams, invest in the right companies and win the lottery a couple of times!!!!!!!

Don't want much do I :?: :?: :?:

Pint please barman - if I'm going downhill, I'm doing half-cut!!!!!

Beautiful post, Mitch. I recognize a lot in what you are saying. I would also like to go back to 1985 and make up for everything I missed back then. On the other hand, I realise that the things I am doing now are just about the same as I would have done in 1985 had I had the money, sense... and my parents consent! The only difference really is that it is 20 years later now. 20 years... oh, that does make me feel kind of old right now! Still, I think to enjoy and appreciate the present as much as possible is the best one can do!

I take up Mitch's drinks offer, though I'm a bit late on it.

Today I started demoing for a solo project. It will take awhile, and spare time is few and far between. I'm not entirely sure what style of rock to go to. I've written demos before, but not really sticking to any one style. I'll still be doing the band project with my bro, but until the band gets their act together, I've decided to work on something else in the meantime.

His synth is limited. I can only do so much, and most of the demos I've written in the past come out sounding like cheese. But I'll write up a bunch of stuff anyway and see what happens.
