Sir Paul in St Paul

Wow...no, I mean WOW!! You guys weren't kidding! What an amazing show!! 2 hrs and 45 minutes and three encores. Is this guy really 63?! I've seen bands HALF his age that couldn't put on a show like this! I'm sitting there, staring at a living legend trying to really comprehend that this guy has had the ear of the WORLD for over 40 years! I grew up listening to my parent's Beatles 8- tracks, so for me, he could have played the old stuff all night, but it was a great mix of old new and everything inbetween. Jet, one of my favorite songs, almost right off the bat. Flaming Pie...what?! The acoustic versions were awesome. "Blackbird", "I Will", "Jenny Wren", "Follow the Sun"...argh! This is so great! The song I was most impressed with was Maybe I'm Amazed. His voice just blew away anything he did the rest of the night. On the down side, I had to sit through The Long and Winding Road and Hey Jude. lol! 'Til There Was You'...YES! I had to call my mom on that one...she was singing over the phone!

Most bands who play this long take an intermission. Not Paul. The guy next to me noted that you never even saw him take a drink of water! I agree Jo, most humble and sincere and a great sense of fun and humor. I could sit there all night and listen to stories of the Beatles. Wouldn't it be fun just to have a drink with him and let him tell stories?! A moment of remembrance for John and George and for Ringo too. At the end of the show he signed albums thrust up at him from the audience. The one man in the world who has the credentials and every right to be the biggest diva in the world and he is the polar opposite. Bands of the new millenium...take notes from a class act and true legend.

OK, to everyone who got to see Sir Paul this tour, I am very interested in your perception of the new songs.......are you running to the store to buy his new CD, or was it more, "OK, I'll sit through this because the next classic song will come when it's over" ????

Helter Skelter was out of control that was a scorcher.
Best show of the year for me.

English Tea is the Martha My Dear of 2005
And Jenny Wren is the Can You Take Me Back of 2005
Bathroom Window was fantastic
Ive Got a Feeling rocked
I wish he would have dumped Let Me Roll It For

Also The show should have opened with ALL YOU NEED IS Love

Froy, Sir Paul probably has to mix it up a little to avoid boredom, on the other hand, who else has the breadth of material to choose from ?

How cool he threw in the song from the Quarrymen days ? theres one you'll never hear anywhere else !

I had the pleasure of seeing him 2 separate times in the 90's......but admit to maybe just a little regret at not seing him on this tour....hes one of the few performers left touring that is worth the big bucks !

That was a great list of songs Paul performed. It woud have been worth the price of admission for me to hear "Maybe I'm Amazed." What a great song that is. My all-time favorite Paul solo song.

I love "I Will", too.

I see why everyone has enjoyed this show so much.

Could be....but I wasn't the only one to hear Ringo, because the people around me all commented that Ringo wasn't dead, but it was cool to mention him.

In Milwaukee the people behind me thought he said Ringo too and didn't know that he passed away too. I heard him (Paul) say Linda and then I explained to the same people that Ringo is fine and he should be coming to Summerfest next year and I explained who Linda was.

I'm the one that usually hears something different.

Have not got the new cd yet, but will purchase. I think this song set ups his last year. Although I prefer Hello Goodbye as the opener. Helter Skelter, For no one and Penny Lane are some of his best songs ever. Interesting that he is doing John vocals (I'll get you and Please Please Me). Also the song to many people is an interesting choice. John (post beatles) took this as a swipe at him. He wrote the song How Do You Sleep on his classic Imagine album as a response. Anybody ever heard that one? Wow, great song, but absolutely brutal!
