Caution: this is NOT politically correct.

She flat out CAN sing, although I never did much care for her songs. I liked the Bangles & The Go Go's much much better.

Pat always made me thinking of Mr. Ed when I saw her videos. A little long in the tooth....

A horse is a horse of course of course..... Here we go again.......

P.S. I actually knew someone who lived by her. They said she was an excellent naaayyy bor!!!

Good to have Yogi back in fine form :)

I love Pat Benatar, just awesome, great voice!! I saw her when she opened for STYX in 1997. Too bad she didn't have many nice things to say about them. I'm sure she'll be back in town here, hope to see her perform again.

Bangles and Go-Go's are okay. I liked them in the 80's but now I grew up and moved on to better bands - LOL

OhSherrie says:

Frankly, I don't know enough about the evolution of Styx since they lost DDY to be able to talk about it. I was all about Dennis's voice and lost interest after he left.

I think we have another DeYoungian

The thing I love about Pat and Neil is they don't write and record for anyone but themselves. It gives their music a different vibe and sound unlike anything else out there. Innamorata was a little more acoustic but Strawberry Wine is one of the best songs ever. Go was a little over processed in my opinion, but still a great album. They took three years to record that album and in that time she sang quite a few of the songs off there in concert along the way, so her fans already knew most of the album before it came out.

Her high octaves aren't *quite* as high as they used to be and she improvises a little on those high high notes on some of her songs, but it never ceases to amaze me how strong her voice is and how at the end of a performance still hit everything as if it's the first song. Like I say all the time: I'd buy an album of her singing the dictionary just to listen to her voice.

Innamorata IS more acoustic driven SW, River Of Love and Only You are my highlights.
Live, she's not taking the risk of high points on Heartbreaker. OK by me.
True there are 4 Go cuts that appear on the 2001 live album.
Her teeth and mouth are part of what gave her the sex appeal then, too.

Dammit Yogi, I thought we were wrapping this up, until your last sentence.

Yes, Journey was voted Americas most popular group in 1982 AND 1983.

So, according to you, the popular vote makes for a "better" product. So, I guess you're a big Bush advocate. ;-)

Zan, you are a moron. Ever try reading the entire thread? Your little pal classicstyxfan FIRST said(and correctly so), that popularity doesn't mean squat), then goes on to state and claim victory by saying "Styx was voted most popular band in 1979...whatever. I then had to counter withthe fact that Journey won that "award" twice in a row." ...Enter Yogi(I think), who says "Styx was named most popular band in 1979. Can Journey ever lay claim to that?" Of which I said yes, they did it twice. HOWEVER, you pile on me, for refuting an argument that your boys first laid out. You people are myopic. Of course popularity doesn't mean a band is better, but it does mean a band is bigger.

Oh by the way, if you have to ask what I think of Bush, you are on crack. Having worked for his predecessor, I think it's pretty clear who I side with politically. And to the 59 million who DID vote for the moron.....Hope you're enjoying this wonderful America that has NO respect in the world.

Deano,

Without pointing out that calling someone a "moron" in a post that is loaded with punctuation errors is a bit ironic, I will say that I have not resorted to name-calling OR temper tantrums, stomped my feet and professed I was leaving, only to return less than a day later ranting like a buffoon about the same B.S. I "claim" to be tired of. I'm also not the one who has trouble with the word "rhetorical."

Psst: I think anyone who has had the pleasure of reading your tirades is aware that you are not a Bush supporter.

Furthermore, Master of Intellect, your opinions, musical or otherwise, are only as valuable as the character you display. Get a grip.

Oh yeah - IM (moronic) O.

So, to sum up 7+ pages and 160 posts in a few sentances.........

- Journey has sold more CD's than Styx

- Styx catalog of music is superior to Journeys

- Rock n' Diva thinks arguments are won by the person who can call the opponent the most names, and can thump their cyber-chest the loudest

and finally

- Someone on the Journey board must have possession of pictures of Andrew in a compromising position, thus forcing him to move the Journey board above the Styx board !

There, I'm glad that's all settled !

Zan, you seem like a nice person, and I really thought about taking the "moron" part out..It wasn't right, so I apologize. However, You slammed my argument, after your team played the same argument twice, so my temper wrote that word. Again, sorry for that.

To say my punctuality is incorrect is wrong. I see I forgot a quotation mark or two, but if you want to get picky, you need to spell "claimed" correctly

I was ready to depart 2 pages ago, only to be called out again by classicfan. I will tell you right now, nothing is worse than a passionate poster who DOES NOT have any facts, or bases his argument on what he thinks. Again, my posts were entirely full of facts. I don't know why you Styx fans can't see that?

Have I ever mentioned I like Styx a great deal? I think they are talented; even today I think so. Hell, I like the current Styx more than half of your entire board! I thought Scott, and Yogi were posting back to me in a way in which the entire thread should have been. Notice I wrote accordingly to what classicfan wrote. he threw down the gauntlet, and if I have "thump my chest" so be it. He got his ass kicked, and it really wasn't that hard to do.

Again, I wish to call a truce...if you want to accept, great. However, screw you classicfan..lol at your lame arguments.

Again Zan, I apologize for the moron statement. You clearly are not one. :D

Deano, no one here cares about your punctuality...this is a message board , if you are late, no one knows the difference.

Use of proper Punctuation is always appreciated by those who have to suffer through your posts though ! ....

"Screw You" is the type of comment I would expect from a young teenager just getting started on the internet. not very intellectual but somewhat expected from you I guess. My arguments might be lame if this weren't a subjective topic...but we've covered that already. Perhaps If I chose a smaller word it might make more sense to you.

Please dont let this negatively impact your blood pressure, Diva, it's only Rock n' Roll, not life or death.

That was a TYPO!!! I swear! lol

(oK, but seriously? You repeated parentheses and used quotes inside of quotes and weren't very liberal with your space bar - and then you made me mad.) ;-)

Incidentally, I'm not a team player...ask anyone!
I really, really just thought it was stupid that people might actually complain about Journey's placement on the board. Then the numbers game began, and being the DeYoungian that I am, I've been battling it out with closed-minded, number-crunchers for the past 6 years online!

Well, I don't know about facts or figures as much as I know what reaches me personally, so I can't refute or dispute or agree with what you just said. However, if you truly want to stay away from a discussion board, just stay away from it. It's no more prodtcive than smashing your face against a wall, as most of us here already know. :-D

Deano, I read the posts....there is a difference between Punctuation, which is what Zan was calling you out on, and Punctuality, which by definition means arriving somewhere at or before a previously agreed upon time.....which is the word you used in YOUR reply.

Dude, they let you out of high school ? or maybe I shouldnt make that assumption......it seems likely your low grades in music appreciation and remedial english kept you out of the graduation ceremonies your peers enjoyed.

I think they are calling for your return to the Journey board...please be punctual.......in other words, don't be late.

Fuck off classic.

Ask Sadie or SMB about my education and resume. They would be more than happy to elaborate my accomplishments, NOT that I like to ever pat myself on the back.

So feel free to PM either of those two.

Have a nice day. I would have been long gone if you hadn't of kept getting off the canvas and calling me back over for yet another ass kicking. Anytime you like, let me know.

I suppose messing with someone whos intellect and lack of maturity is as pronounced as it is with you is getting old, for me , and for the others on this board..........it's just that you make it so easy !

I'm done with you now, at least on this thread, and unlike pronouncements you have made about me in the past, I have the maturity and discipline to mean it. So you may have the last word if you like, in fact, I will be shocked if you dont respond with one last demonstration of your maturity and extensive vocabulary, especially the naughty words and names !

Thanks for letting me yank your chain, it was fun !

I find it amusing that the longest thread on the Styx board...in a very long time....is one that heavily includes Journey fan comments. I did make notice that the Journey board has half the threads but almost the same number of posts as this board. Guess we have had a lot of practice at debating...

No slam, jab or dig intended...just a simple observation. Looks like the reason for this thread was a rousing success!

That and the fact that some people are more stubborn than others

I have no problem debating issues. But when threads get repetitive, well they lose steam! You may have long threads on Journey (and I've participated in a small few of them), but my oh my...you guys beat a dead horse quite frequently. No slam, jab, or dig intended either. Honestly.
