A bit slow here this morning.

I will reserve my opinion on this song. I need to listen to it a few more times. There are things I really love about it and things I don't like.

I give it a thumbs up, but with a few reservations.

His voice, though, is just spectacular.

I like the song a lot :)

Doesn't the very beginning kind of sounds like the beginning to Back To Chicago, kind of? I hear a little bit of "A Love Foretold", maybe a little "Paradise" too?

I keep hearing a combination of different songs throughout the song. I just heard it another 6 times. - LOL The first couple of times I heard the song as the song.

I think I play way too much Dennis and STYX songs

When I first heard some of the soundclips of Journey's new material, I did the same thing you are doing. I heard different "influences" from past songs. Some were very obvious and almost distracting at first. But now, I hear the song for the song and I am not even sure which tracks were a 'problem' in the beginning.

Is this the Xmas song you are talking about?

I agree, I'm not paying for a song you'll proabably hear so much on the radio before Christmas you'll be sick of it.

Really? So, you are going to be playing this song on your station? There is just a huge part of my that doubts it.

But, I doubt I'll download it either. I don't have iTunes installed.

A true Christmas Gift will be if this song is played so much on the radio that we are sick of it.

I downloaded it, have given it a couple of Digital Spins and while Dennis' voice sounds great, I wouldn't put it as one of his best. It's a nice song, will probalyb get a dozen or so more spins maybe more, but for those hoping to get a rockin song from Dennis, this leans more like 10 on Broadway.

Having heard the song myself this morning, I can say that Dennis is in fine voice on the song. I don't know that I myself would classify it as a Christmas song per se. And it is certainly not a rocker (though I myself didn't expect it to be one). I find it comparable to Beneath the Moon in tone and style. I also find myself not liking the end of the song. I don't honestly think it will be heard other than on the stations that do Christmas material for the holidays.

Still, it's nice to hear him in good voice.

I have listened a few more times and I give it a mixed review.

I am not a fan of the arrangement, but that is just my own musical taste.

The lyrics are what one would expect, but no turn of the phrase that makes you stop and think.

As to Dennis' voice, a whole other story. It is astonishing, in my book. How does this guy SING like that??? Absolutely pure and the upper range he mostly sings this song in is mind boggling. He is approaching 59. No way someone that age should have the vocal power and range he displays here.

Like NH, I would love for it to get some holiday airplay. No way to know if that will happen. It would be nice, however.

Is it going to fit a classic rock format? Probably not.

Nope, it (Dennis' song) has already hit the AC stations.

Bugsy says:

Really? 59? Already? OMG  It just seems like it's yesterday when I got my Grand Illusion album.

I am with Bugsy on the arrangement, the piano is way to burried in the mix. It really takes away from the song. It really surprises me for Dennis.

The arrangement of Roseland was perfect for Dennis with a piano, wished it was closer to that type of arrangement.

I really don't care for the ending either. Could have ended without the run of "Still in love's" It would have been a stronger song.

But we know who it's directed at and why its there.

I don't mind the horns, but the ending with all the "still in loves".....definitely a bad way to end it..IMHO.

I like the ending.

Just remember, I'm the same person that loves "First Time". I guess I'm a real romantic type of person and love that in a song.

He's happy with the song :)

Oh by the way, I had French Toast this morning with cherries and a LOT of syrup :)

I haven't downloaded the full song yet - My "purchased music" is stored on my work PC...but the thirty seconds I heard were good. However, I gotta say, it sounds VERY Barry Manilow. The arrangement, the words, the theme, the vocals, everything.

You really think it sounds VERY Barry Manilow???? Really?

Maybe you'll think different after you listen to the whole song, maybe.

Once we get the radio information, we'll post it on here. Then we'll know what stations are playing the song. All I know it started to play in Atlantic City and Kansas City, I think 2 weeks ago.

I feel I should respond to this Barry Manilow issue, being a Fanilow myself. This Christmas song is many things, but I sure didn't get any Barry out of it. Especially the vocals. Love Barry though I do, Dennis could sing him about 15 feet into the ground and then some.

To me, the best part of this song is DDY's soaring vocals. The song itself is ok. Pleasant. Nice. Etc. But how he sings it -- ten, no eleven, stars!

Eh, it's good, but I'm not ready to have his babies or anything. I think Dennis has a bigger range, but as far as the overal quality and sound of the voices, I don't think he and Barry are that far apart. I've never denied Dennis was talented. I just don't get as worked up over him as some of you do.

(I think Art Garfunkel could sing them both under the table, IMO)

I think back in the day Art could certainly have given Dennis or Barry a run for their money. Not so sure about now.

I like the song, think Dennis sings it well, but it wouldn't make my top 10 from him.

Art had an awesome voice........if only he had the gift of writing great songs......that was all Mr Simon, as evidenced by Arts lack of commercial success as a solo artist.

Crosby Stills & Nash could carry a tune quite well also !

Fanilow - that is one of the cutest nicknames that I ever heard - LOL I didn't get Barry out of it, just Dennis. Oh, Dennis can totally sing him more than 15 feet into the ground, you bet :)

Such a different voice from either Dennis or Barry. It is one of the best, purest voices, ever though, I will grant you that.
