Isn't it Ironic? Don't you think?

Postby SuiteMadameBlue » Tue Nov 29, 2005 9:35 am

Huh?

This was posted on another site.

Not to start trouble or anything - LOL Is ironic the right word to use for this?

Did I not understand something? I thought Kilroy and the whole "Mr. Roboto" song "killed" Styx and I could swear that it was mentioned that they did not want to write about robots.

Why are they selling Roboto t-shirts on their site? I'm seriously curious, seriously.

THe Real Answer is that Universal forced it down their throat to sell it. It wasn't the choice of the band.

That I didn't know. Is this true?

Thanks for explaining, I seriously didn't think of Universal at all. I just figured the band made the decisions or had the final say on it.

As it was said to me.

Actually, I was referring to the incessant moaning and finger pointing every time Tommy writes a note, JY does an interview, Styx puts out and album, Dennis sells out a concert, Styx doesn't sell out a concert, Styx says "Roboto," Gowan wipes his ass, etc.

Zan says:

I post Tommy's notes on here for all fans. Yeah, I admit I do rip a few apart, but if you noticed he did go back and correct Kevin Cronin's name. And if you also noticed, he hasn't mentioned anything in the last 2 notes about lack of sleep. I'm very serious about pointing these things out to him and obvious he did take notice.

So, I don't post these to ALWAYS rip on him, just working on paying off my Styx Community Service Hours - LOL

JY does an interview,

I think most of us have been pretty fair on posting all reviews and interviews when we find them. However, I will point out ANY negativity that I catch though. It's not good for anybody to keep talking negative, just tell the interviewer to move on to the next question or focus on promoting your current line-up and album/cd/concerts. I really think he should change his tune and move on. He is getting better and focusing on the band of today.

Styx puts out and album

I didn't like the original songs in the first place (ACK) and still didn't like them on the covers (ACK). I do like "Can't Find My Way Home" better than the original, but I love House of Lords version better than Styx. I think I mentioned this in several posts and threads, so technically, I have been kind of promoting this song without ripping on it :)

I will continue to talk about any Styx or Dennis album they put out. Good, Bad or Ugly - LOL

Dennis sells out a concert

You bet!! I will go crazy and keep posting any more sold out shows!!! If I read or find out that Styx has done the same, I will post that too, just like I have in the past, if there were any.

Styx doesn't sell out a concert

Just comparing sometimes, the same cities or venues. That's what I like to do. Dennis is out there now solo, with his name. Styx is with the name Styx. Maybe Sadie can explain this one, I know what I'm trying to say, just can't post it - LOL Nothing new on my end with that - LOL

Styx says "Roboto,"

I will probably keep posting this one only because Tommy and JY still keep ripping on it in public and yet it's in the medley and merchandise. Just my opinion.

Gowan wipes his ass, etc.

That's a new one. Hopefully I can find an article on this one - LOL

Seriously? There was one song that I liked, it's the song that sounds very, very similar too "Winter's Call" by Badlands.

You know what, since I seriously didn't hear it in quite a while. I will put it in and listen to it in a bit and give you my honest opinion. I will go to the Styx vault and try to find it.

**I have to hide "those" cd's and dvd's when my Dennis friends come over - LOL Shhhhh, don't tell them**

I have both Cyclorama and BBT. I felt I better listen and speak from knowledge when I praise or criticize.

So, technically, I am going against the DeYoung by-laws I suppose.

Note: I did not pay for either CD, so I guess I only committed a possession violation and not a purchase one.

Okay Yogi, I have the cd in.

Just remember my reviewing postings are always crappy and not detailed - LOL

"Do Things My Way" - is okay. This one I'd probably play more than once.

Suite,

Listen to the ENTIRE CD. One With Everything???, These Are The Times??, Yes I Can??, Waiting For Out Time??, Do Things My Way???, Captain America???, Kiss Your ???? More Love ........... It is a pretty good CD if you give it a fair listen.

What happened to Dennis aside, the music itself is good, actually very good.

If the name in front of Cyclorama didnt say Styx, what would think???

Okay, this is the song that I do like "Waiting For Our Time". PLEASE download "Winter's Call" by Badlands and someone tell me this does not sound the same??? I'll be playing this one again.

This isn't quite a rock song, but not a ballad.

EGAD, cringe, ACK, "Fields of the Brave", LOL I'm so sorry, do not like. I'll just leave it at that. Going to the next song.............

"Bourgeous Pig" - WTH? Stupid, this is more than embarrassing, just the name alone - LOL Thank goodness it was only 49 seconds of crap - LOL

"Kiss Your Ass Goodbye", not thinking of the whole lyric thing and all that old crap, I'm headbanging my head right now and tapping my foot. See politics aside, I do like Glen, always have. Sounds a little like Blink 182 & Green Day mixed. Doesn't sound anything like Styx at all, is it suppose to? Drums are pretty damn good on here.

"These Are The Times" - ACK, sounds kind of dark and creepy. I'm scared right now with the beginning. Still scared. Chorus is okay, because I can hear Tommy. Back to the singing, sorry, I'm still shaking and frightened - LOL I remember this one in concert, didn't like it live either. So this one is a "no go" to me.

I'm listening and posting comments after a few songs. I forgot I have a signed copy of this - LOL Anyone want it, I have 2 - LOL Just kidding. I'll have to see how much it goes for on Ebay with all the signatures of this line-up.

What happened to Dennis aside, the music itself is good, actually very good.
If the name in front of Cyclorama didnt say Styx, what would think???

I'm listening to it with all politics aside and keeping a very opened mind, well, I'm trying really hard.

But see, I don't really care for JY's songs and singing to begin with, my husband like's his songs a lot better than Tommy's so I have to hear "Miss America" cranked up, for him ACK! He even plays it at bowling now - ACK. No wonder my average goes down - LOL As for Gowan, it has nothing to do with Dennis, trust me.

Okay, more songs:

"Yes, I Can", this isn't a rock song? I thought they wanted to go more rock? Huh? Okay, this song I like and would probably play again. I tell you, I do like Tommy's music :)

"More Love For The Money", at first I thought the beginning sounded like a Beatles song - LOL Melody is okay, otherwise, a "no-go" with me on this one. I'm still cringing, sounds very similar to the Beatles in some of the parts, just my opinion. Kind of psychadelic, a little with extra guitar power. I guess the lyrics are okay.

"Together" is okay, not bad.

"Fooling Yourself" (Palm of Your Hands), not long enough to make a full comment, too much chorus. I don't know.

"Captain America" - ACK, no offense. This is more of a rock song compared to most of the songs on the album/cd. I do like when Tommy comes into the song. I always liked the Styx songs when the singers would switch off. BUT, I do like how he explained the story behind the song. That I like.

Sadie,

I know you're upset that I may a donation in Suite's name and not yours. That's understandable. After giving it much thought, I realize when I'm man enough to admit I made a mistake.

So in an effort to right a wrong, I've decided to make it up to you. I have now named a star after you in the National Star Registry. I hope that makes it even.

BTW-The star's name is Sadie Gowan

Yogi, I'm finishing up now

"Killing the Thing That You Love", kind of okay. It's weird, I just thought I heard a little teeny tiny bit of the song "All In A Day's Work" in part of the song.

"One With Everything" - for the most part, I do like this song. I don't like the funky organ sound at the end. Kind of wrecks it for me, otherwise I like it.

Too bad Tommy didn't make a solo album and used his songs and made it his own, maybe with Jack Blades, bummer.

Okay last song and then my Rob Thomas goes in, fast.

"Genki Desu Ka", again, WTH? I don't care who the guests are on this song, don't care for it at all. Hey, they stole my phrase "Everything's All Right" darn it.

Whew, there you go Yogi. Pretty much my honest opinion for the day on this album.

Well I have to tell you...that just doesn't have a stellar sound to it. I appreciate the attempt to atone, however...don't do me any favors

Since you've gone to all the trouble...perhaps you can get said star renamed...something along the lines of Bugsy Luminosa since she found this amusing. One must include one's "friends" in this venture.

Dave, from the beginning of this board, has there been ANY thread that has been kept On Topic???LOL

One topic leads to another and then that topic leads to even another, etc. etc.

Then it all comes back to Styx - LOL

Actually as I'm typing this, I have no clue what the original topic was - LOL
