I think the worst song of all time is "We Built This City on Rock and Roll" by Starship. Second place goes to "The Final Countdown" by Europe.

I don't agree with the assessment of "New World Man". Not one of my favorite Rush tunes, but it sure doesn't belong on this list.

Exactly for "We Built This City" - ACK!!! As for "The Final Countdown", I don't know if it would second place, well to me, but it's up there in the top 10!! Is that Europe's only "hit" song?? I can't even think of any other songs by them.

I totally agree!! There's so many more terrible songs that should make "this" list, but I don't see any by Rush!

I will never be able to listen to this song again without it bringing to mind failed magician Gob Bluth on "Arrested Development" performing his "magic act." :lol:

I was shocked that We Built This City topped a few lists. I always liked it. I can see how people would not like it but I would never vote it as worst.
Music Time I always enjoyed too. No, I wouldn't put it over anything they did in the 70s but I thought it was good for its time. Their attempt to be an 80s band....for a moment....
In fact, most the songs on the list I didn't really hate but can understand how the groups in question lost some of their "hip" credibility. Many people assume, rightly or wrongly, that once a group puts out a ballad or more accessible than usual type of song that EVERYTHING that particular artist releases from that point on will all be similar. Many times that's just not the case.

The Final Countdown is a classic.
SMB, Europe have quite a few good songs. Rock the Night, Cherokee, Carrie, Halfway To Heaven, Prisoners in Paradise, Superstitious and I'll Cry For You are some of them. Their newest album Start From The Dark is not bad either.

One of the reasons I can't stand that song is that it was way TOO overplayed when it came out. I remember changing the radio station and it would be on another one too - ACK!!

I wouldn't put that song over anything they did in the 70's either - LOL I think it was an attempt to be a 80's band too!!! Remember how they dressed?? So 80's LOL

I really like music groups that have a variety of songs in their catalog! Songs that have a harder edge, a pop sound and even ballads, the variety for every mood

Ah, I remember "Carrie" now. Was there a video for this one?? The other songs I don't recall. I'll have to see if I have any Europe cd's, I'm pretty sure one of my brother in laws do.

I didn't check their website, but are their original members all still with the band???

Yes, there was a video for Carrie. They got back together recently and did the new album. I think it's all original members, but I'm not sure. John Norum is back though.

It took a few minutes, but I found their site, you have to "Google" Europe The Band -LOL Anyway, I saw the new album and it also said that the "Classic" Line up is back together. So I guess that's probably their original line-up or the line-up from their "hey day". I'm still looking to see if we have any Europe cd's. My husband has over 400 cd's, mostly heavy metal, speed metal, hard rock, Classic rock and Dean Martin - LOL

All I know is that John Norum was the original guitarist, but Kee Marcelo took his place. Don't know about any other changes. I'm sure there have been a few.

Dean Martin? I don't mind Deano. Was listening to a few of his Christmas songs just the other day.

Europe's only significant member change was John leaving after the recording of Final Countdown and Kee joining in time for all the videos and tour. Out Of This World and Prisoners In Paradise followed with Kee. Their new CD features John back and Kee gone. Personally, I think they should have kept Kee also. So John was a part of the band for the recording of their first big hits, but Kee toured them and appeared in the videos. Kee was there for the follow-up albums/hits. So they were both there in a way, for the "hey-day"!

Yes, Dean Martin - LOL My husband has all his cd's in alphabetical order with all the metal cd's and in the middle is Dean Martin cd's - LOL We had all the Christmas classic cd's playing and playing all week.

We had a huge party here on Christmas Eve and most of my family was reading these boards on here - LOL My sister-in-law picked out Orlando's picture so when she was reading she would come across his picture over and over!! :shock:

I actually like this picture of him a lot.

Unfortunately I catch little things all the time, but I never heard why Kee was not included. I think it had something to do with the whole "reunion" idea...John was the original guitarist and the one who recorded the songs that acheived stardom for the band. So it was probably the record companies idea....

Kee supposedly was in the middle of a solo project and was unable to fit the reunion around that.

Europe's had a few personnel changes since their 1979 beginning but I know everyone was referring to the classic Final Countdown lineup when they were talking about there being few changes.

Here's the breakdown:

Current Line-up:
Joey Tempest - Vocals (1979-92; 2003-present)
John Norum - Guitar (1979-86; 2003-present)
John Levén - Bass (1981-92; 2003-present)
Mic Michaeli - Keyboards (1984-92; 2003-present)
Ian Haugland - Drums and percussion (1984-92; 2003-present)

Former Members:
Peter Olsson - Bass (1979-81)
Marcel Jacob - Bass (1981)
Tony Reno - Drums and percussion (1979-84)
Kee Marcello - Guitar (1986-92)

Norum and Leven also did stints in the reformed Dokken recently.
