I met John Panozzo in 1991

Postby STYGIANMAN » Wed Dec 28, 2005 11:29 am

I live in the SanJose/SanFrancisco Bay area. Back in 1991 on the EOTC
tour, I was at the Concord Pavillion about an hour before the show. The stands were very empty. I was sitting in my seat and from behind the stage JP comes walking out into the stands and sat in an empty seat.
I walked up to his seat and we started talking. He told me he had spent the last 7 years of the Styx breakup learning to fly a plane and that he just had gotten married. He was the nicest guy in the World. He said Styx was back to stay and that they would have a new album out in 1992.
We all know now that never happened, but at least we will get to hear some of those songs at the Dennis/Glen concert in Jersey.

Anyway, I just wanted to share with you what a great guy he seemed to be. He signed my ticket stub and shook my hand. And yes, he had that cool Chicago accent!

GREAT story Stygianman!! What a nice memory!! I'm sure we'll hear about 3 songs from the Edge 1992 album. They're probably learning them right now - LOL They have to re-learn a bunch of songs, each of them and I would think together.

Anyway, I just wanted to share with you what a great guy he seemed to be. He signed my ticket stub and shook my hand. And yes, he had that cool Chicago accent!

I never met him, I heard of only great things about him from everyone that met him.

Chicago Accent??? What does that sound like?? LOL

"Chicago Accent??? What does that sound like??"

Simply put, to coin a Saturday Night Live skit phrase, "Da Bullz, Da Baerz"

LOL, Adam! I think I am finally getting used the the Chi-CAH-goe accent and am starting to make out what those Wis-CAHN-sin people are saying.!! 8)

I know Dennis' son Matthew adored John Panozzo. All that I have read/heard about him was that he was a really great guy. Thanks for sharing your story, Stygianman.

I have been to Chicago 3 times now. Absolutely some of the nicest people I have ever met. I have never seen Styx in Chicago, though. Although I have seen the Return to Paradise DVD about 5000 times so I now feel like I was actually there that night!
