Why will Dennis and Glen be the show of the year? Am I missing something here? To me it's no different then David Lee Roth doing a show and Gary Chorone being the opening act or JY sitting in with Glen at one of his shows. How about Pete Best sitting in at a Paul McCartney show? Now that's news!

In the STYX world this will be the show of the year
The current band that uses the STYX name has nothing new to offer.
Dennis and Glen will be playing Edge 2 songs which will be great to hear.

or JY sitting in with Glen at one of his shows.

One of JY's shows you mean the bar gigs he did a few years ago?
Jy compared to Dennis you can't be serious.
JY has 4 songs and thats it.
Himself and Glen would be a nothing show
Glen would blow the guy away

How about Pete Best sitting in at a Paul McCartney show? Now that's news!

Yes that would be news,

As far as I know and correct me if I’m wrong the Edge 2 songs are demos that Dennis couldn’t sell to a record company back in 1992. I don’t really call that having something new to offer. Although I would love to hear them to see what direction he was taking the band. From the 2 that I have heard (“it takes love” and “paradise”) it’s not a direction that I particularly like. As for Styx, they do have something new to offer. A new CD is in the works (they are signed to a major label) and hopefully we will see it before the end of the year. :D

He could not sell them because the record company wanted Shaw back in the lineup.

It Takes Love is ok
Paradise is a masterpiece
It one of Dennis 's best songs ever.

The tour will be over by the end of the year
So they have nothing new to offer just like I said.
Are you going to NJ Chicago Styx?
I will be there so lets hook up .

I wish I could, but I can't. I'm still trying to get the soundboard from the ChicagoHOB show. If I get anything, you'll be one of the first to receive a copy :)

How come Glen has suddenly become the flavor of the month with the Deyoungians.......they despised him a while back.........for writing those horrible songs about Mr Poodle...... The word fickle comes to mind.

Oh I like that "Flavor of The Month" LOL Okay, Glen is January's Styx "Flavor of the Month". I can't wait until Tommy month, just let me know in advance so I can get more pictures of him ready!! I'll be on Tommy's bandwagon big time when the concert of DeYoung/Shaw is announced or takes place :)

I don't remember if I bashed Glen anywhere. I always liked him. I didn't like the things he posted about Dennis or said about Dennis, but he was very nice when I met him and I'll always remember that :)

There will be no Shaw DeYoung show I think you need to let that go.
Shaw is not smart enough for that.
He thinks he's STYX now and won't go back
Funny thing we all know who the real STYX is so it does not matter.

You're telling ME to let it go??? Why? I don't have to let anything go, you of all people should know that by now. Once my minds made up to follow a dream, I go for it!! (dammit)

Shaw is not smart enough for that.

Actually Shaw is very smart for that. He does what he wants to do when he wants to do it. He's going to do what's best for Tommy Shaw. You'll see.

He thinks he's STYX now and won't go back

Just because he writes those "Hello Friends" letters doesn't mean he thinks he's Styx. He knows he's not and you can thank JY for that. Oops, I guess I'll have to add, IN MY OPINION!! LOL

Funny thing we all know who the real STYX is so it does not matter

No kidding, well most of us on here know who the real Styx is

Do you have any real info on this? Or is it just speculation? I had hoped to hear something from Tommy in his notes about new music. I figured that with this long of a lay off they would be working on new material.

Dave,

Writers block has to lift 1st.......it's contageous, evidently DDY has it too.

Or perhaps I am wrong, and they all just need to get off their ASSES and get into the studio. Perhaps the lure of all that cash they will make off the release of STYX BALLADS in 2006 has adversely affected their level of motivation.

I thought that the Shaw/Blades cd was going to be released soon and they would maybe promote that. Does anybody know?????

I would think Tommy would focus on that first before writing a new album (LOL) with Styx.

He could not sell them because the record company wanted Shaw back in the lineup.

Tsk, tsk. That's not a good little froyline. A few years ago you said it was because Dennis would not sign Styx to a contract for less then a million dollars.

I guess everyone makes mistakes. Even someone as cute as you!

Can someone tell me what Glen Posted about Dennis a few years ago?
I never saw that. I know the songs he wrote on Cylorama were a jab at DDY.

Here's the link for Glen's "Dear Glen" letters.

http://www.glenburtnik.com/dearglen.htm

These are just the older ones. I found one that mentioned hooking up with Dennis - LOL

I can't find the letter that I wrote him about the lyrics and if they were written about Dennis. He explained it pretty good. I wrote it mid-2003. I believe him that it wasn't written about Dennis, even though it seems like it was. Just my opinion.

It is still funny that songs Glen wrote before he rejoined Styx are still being considered a jab at Dennis.

I can see it if you are looking at the lyrics and know a bit about the history of the band, but not if you are well versed.

However, songs written by Tommy and JY, might be a different story...

Yeah, I think you guys are right. Glen probably didn't write those songs with Dennis in mind. Thanks for the Info about the Glen Website. I just read some of the letters.
I wonder what Tommy and JY think about the Dennis/Glen shows?
I really doubt we will every see Dennis/Tommy/JY on stage together again. Just too much bad blood. But, as a Styx fan for over 30 years, and having been to every concert since Crystal Ball - that's right, EVERY SINGLE ONE!, and some of them several times all up and down the coast -
I would have to say that Styx was at their best during the 1996 and 1997 reunion shows. I knew it was too good to last. I really loved it when they unplugged everything and sat up on the front of the stage and joked with the audience. I wish they would have left that joking around part in the Return to Paradise video. Rememer Dennis joking about his "shrinking organ??"!!

Im right there with ya
I have seen every show since Equinox
Loved them all pure magic year after year.
The 96 97 shows were extra special Little Suzie,On My Way,Paradise,
Queen of Spades and Boat On The River some rare stuff there.
I saw opening night in Cedar Rapids the crowd was blazing so was the band. Its too bad greed and spite killed a great band,
Really its just a sad shame.
