so, DDY is on pace to do about 50 shows this year ( I count 16 in the 1st 4 months )

Hmmmm........now ask yourself, if you had achieved financial independence, and worked only for the pure joy of it, how much WOULD you work ? I think I might do about that much myself.

Now, the only possible criticism I might offer is this.......

Is this enough work for the others in the band, and everyone ese who is associated with putting on these shows ? can they make a decent living in this fashion ? I dont suppose anyone here really knows the answers to this. If the support people can make a living this way or have side jobs to suppliment this work, then that is great ! If not.....well, I suppose they are free to seek work elsewhere.

Just some random thoughts.

While I have no inside info...I do know that the other members of Dennis' band all have other pursuits. I know Hank has several other bands he works with, Kyle works with Deana Carter and others, Tommy D. does a lot of session work, and John B. Has a few other acts he works with. I believe Kate Milan (Dawn Marie's replacement) also has other work and bands she works with.

So while doing only 50 or so public gigs (don't forget he does a lot of corporate shows) may not make them financially independent, I believe they all have found other income sources as well.

Its funny how everyone else in the world can get along with Dennis except the 2 jealous goofs.
They just hate the fact that Dennis with 0 effort is a bigger draw than the band he formed and lost to spite.
Im sure JY is freakin pissed off that Dennis and Glen are hooking up
That just shows how wrong they were to dump him
For a egomaniac who did not want to tour sure looks like Dennis is doing just fine.,

I am just enjoying the fact that he IS touring fairly successfully, has found a niche for his type of show and way to present it, and is having a good time onstage performing.

Gives people like me more than one chance to hear him in concert.

Frooey: Its funny how everyone else in the world can get along with Dennis except the 2 jealous goofs.
Adam: ...and Chuck Panozzo and Gary Loizzo and Keith Marks and Charlie Brusco and...

Frog: They just hate the fact that Dennis with 0 effort is a bigger draw than the band he formed and lost to spite.
Adam: Right. They've toured for 7 years, travelled internationally, played 2 superbowls, the today show, etc., yet Dennis' HANDFUL of gigs = no effort and outselling. Froy, get a clue.

Fruit: Im sure JY is freakin pissed off that Dennis and Glen are hooking up
That just shows how wrong they were to dump him
For a egomaniac who did not want to tour sure looks like Dennis is doing just fine.,
Adam: Let me get this straight: a few months - hell, WEEKS ago, Dlen was a piece of crap - a meaningless cog in a wheel. Right, Froy? Suddenly, Glen matters - what he does makes a big difference. Right Froy?

God bless you, Dude. You're ALL about blind loyalty to Dennis and absolutely nothing more...

Well, there are a lot of open dates in there - so you never know what new dates are going to be added.

Dennis has been doing roughly the same number of shows per year for a while. Since the man is in all likelyhood a pretty smart businessman I'm sure he wouldn't be doing it if he wasn't making money.

Besides - looking at those canadian shows, it makes me wonder how well a DDY solo career would be doing north of the border.

It is on hold due to the Venue - long story. If changes are made the show will be on the same date or a different date.

There are going to be a lot of open dates. BUT, there will be 2 more in the North, one in the West added soon. Dennis has 2 kids getting married this year, pretty many Corporate shows, in fact one was just in Milwaukee that I skipped due to a Poker party here, dammit. Anyway, he's enjoying his life from what I heard and is happy playing the amount of dates that he's playing. This year will be the most dates that Dennis has played solo.

From what I hear, he's a pretty smart business man. He has been donating a ton of money to PBS and he even donated some of his own money at charity shows to help them meet their goal. I know for a fact one of the places was Green Bay and there was an article on it too.

Besides - looking at those canadian shows, it makes me wonder how well a DDY solo career would be doing north of the border.

His shows are doing so awesome up in Canada and even Mexico in which he keeps getting asked back. He has been bombarded with a TON of requests to play many more dates in Canada.

Dennis said they are working on Ottawa dates on an Ottawa radio broadcast yesterday. He also mentioned several other Canadian cities, the names escape me now.

He did say maybe he needed to move there.

He is very popular in Canada right now, eh?

They had a little wedding section in one of my magazines the other day with three women and what they each spent on their weddings. The first was $950, the second, $30,000 and the third $400,000(yes that is the right number of zeros) she spent $80,000 on flowers and $12,000 on a DJ! WTF?! I'm in the wrong side of the business! lol!
