Former Eagles guitarist-singer-songwriter Don Felder will bring a group of musical pals — including Stephen Stills, Alice Cooper and members of Green Day and No Doubt — for a Feb. 1 concert at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts to benefit Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

Comic Cheech Marin will host a bill that also includes actor Dennis Quaid, comedian D.L. Hughley, producer-composer David Foster, Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke, Styx guitarist Tommy Shaw, Green Day drummer Tré Cool and No Doubt drummer Adrian Young.

Tickets are $50 to $200 and proceeds will go to the Salvation Army and Red Cross Katrina relief funds. For more information, call (800) 300-4345.

Felder and Friends rock Cerritos for Katrina relief
By Shirley Wild, Columnist

A BENEFIT CONCERT put on by Don Felder and Friends at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts raised more than $155,872 to assist the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army's Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts.
The concert, produced by original Eagles member Felder and sponsored by the City of Cerritos and East West Bank, brought out the stars for an evening of incredible music, laughter, and a message of hope. The lineup included Dennis Quaid, Alice Cooper, Stephen Stills, Cheech Marin, DL Hughley, David Foster, Tommy Shaw (STYX), Jack Blades (Night Ranger), Gilby Clarke (Guns N' Roses), Adrian Young (No Doubt), and Karen Han (internationally renowned Er-Hu virtuoso). And surprise celebrity guests joined the all-star jam, including Adam Rodriguez and Rex Linn from the hit show CSI Miami.

The house was filled with 1,400 fans who were treated to an eclectic lineup of music's finest, who performed together throughout the evening. Surprises were featured throughout the night — Marin broke out in an impromptu performance of "Born in East L.A.," accompanied by Shaw and Blades, who were later joined by Stills and the stars of CSI Miami jumping in to perform in their version of "California Dreamin."

Quaid and the Sharks brought down the house with "A Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On," as did Cooper's "School's Out for Summer," performed by Cooper, Young, Clarke, Shaw, and Blades. Foster's set featured the vocal talents of the young and vibrant Renee Olstead, while Felder introduced his daughter Leah, a dynamic young singer who performed some of the Eagles' greatest hits with her father.

The show's all-star jam finale, "Sweet Home Louisiana," featured all of the performers in a celebration representing the spirit of the evening.

In addition to ticket sales,

additional funds were raised through a silent auction of five guitars autographed by all of the benefit's performers (raising $14,575), individual donations (more than $2,000), and the sale of concert T-shirts.

In the true meaning of giving, all of the performers donated their time and talents to participate in this fund-raising effort. Underwriting was provided by the City of Cerritos and East West Bank.

Following the performance, VIP ticket holders attended a reception hosted by Cerritos. With the catering of the always-exquisite Patina Group, guests enjoyed an array of delicacies including duck confit, chicken Farinelles, cuplets with rosemary grilled beef, asparagus crostini and an assortment of mouth-watering desserts.

Seen at the reception: Cerritos Mayor John Crawley and his wife, Pam; Mayor Pro Tem Paul Bowlen; City Council members Laura Lee, Gloria Kappe (with her husband, former Mayor Sherman, and Jim Edwards, with his wife, Connie; City Manager Art Gallucci, with his wife, Joanne; Dr. Craig Springer, executive director of the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts; Dominic Ng, chairman, president, and CEO of East West Bank; and performers Felder and Young.
