Who's Touring With Who for 2006

Postby SuiteMadameBlue » Fri Jan 27, 2006 6:57 am

Okay, not THE WHO (LOL), but any guesses on which bands are touring together for 2006?

I guess Aerosmith and Cheap Trick are going out this year together.

Rumors for Journey & Def Leppard

I think maybe:

REO & Boston (?)

Styx & Kansas (?)

Dennis & Glen a few more dates
Dennis & Rik a few more dates

Journey and Leppard would be an absolutely killer show.

Boston's lost so much live though that I think REO would really outshine them. I'd go though. Styx and Kansas...I've never seen Kansas, are they any good these days? Who's even in Kansas these days, or should I say who's not there that should be? I'm not a big fan but I'd go because Styx is there.

Are you talking about Kansas or Gary Wright(THAT Dream Weaver?) I will be honest and I think I've said this before. I am a Kansas fan, I love a lot of their songs, but from personal experience, I think they are HORRIBLE in concert. I've seen them three or four times and have been less then impressed all shows. They are boring and uninspired and I saw them one time when they went over half the show without playing a hit! I'll listen to them all day on the radio, but if they are in concert on a double bill with someone, I come late(or leave early)!

I'm with Angie,

Kansas does little for me either. Not really a high powered show either. At this point in any music groups career, you have to have to have 2-3 everyone knows songs with 5-8, I forgot they did that songs. Kansas just doesn't have that.

Kansas actually has 4 of the 6 members still doing their thing. Missing is Kerry Livgren (although he shows up now and then) and the bass player (Dave Hope). They added another keyboard player years ago and he's still with them. He's the guy who does Seventh Key I think. Anyway, As Angie says, not really inspiring in concert although they do seem to come out play more of their older stuff that Kansas fans would know

I think it was the 1991 Edge of the Century tour that Kansas opened for Styx in Minneapolis. They were the ABSOLUTE WORST live act I had ever seen. Hell, calling them a 'live' act is a joke. They were ALL in a coma. Playing music seemed to be the last thing ANY of them wanted to do. Some people behind us swore it wasnt even Kansas. But....,It was!!

When I saw Journey perform in The Main Event ll they seemed the same way, but not even close to the level Kansas was.

Styx touring with them would be a HUGE mistake. Then again maybe Styx could loan Kansas Chuck P. to inject some life into the WORST live performing band EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man this really sucks being the young one.....I haven't even been to a good concert in my entire LIFE.

I LOVE Styx music....its the best because EVERYONE can find a song that they like.

I also love Kansas but they only had a few good albums that really had GOOD Music.

I can imagine that Kansas would be horrible on stage in front of PEOPLE but you have to admit that they haev some good songs.

Since this has turned to a Kansas topic, I will add my .02. Since I am the "Old Lady" on this board :) , I saw Kansas during their hey day back in the 70's, with the original members. They played a concert with Cheap Trick, who had not yet broken big.

Anyway, Kansas SOUNDED really terrific. One of the best sounding concerts I ever heard, but they were pretty static, except for Steve Walsh, who hopped around his keyboard. He almost looked out of place, LOL. Kansas has always been a very symphonic band and the members act as though they are in a symphony. Not much action, other than musical, onstage.

I will say that Cheap Trick came close to blowing Kansas off the stage. They were such a great live band -- two hotties and two nerds, LOL!

I like many of their songs. I love their Point Of No Return Album.

But.... The ONE time I saw them live, they were by far the most least inspiring band I know I will EVER see.

ABSOLUTELY BRUTAL live!!!!

OK, I gotta pipe in here.......to me LISTENING to the music played is every bit as important as watching what they do on stage while they are playing.....

To that end, I truly enjoyed the Kansas show I saw circa 1980, in support of the Monolith tour. Many of their songs are very complex and intricate regarding changing time signatures, and degree of difficulty to play. At the time, Steve Walsh was the most athletic performer in rock, with an awesome voice to boot. I couldnt believe what he could do and still play and sing well. And since they were at their zenith commercially, the special effects/lights were outstanding.

I can understand if you saw them in the 90's ( as I did when they toured with Styx ) why you may not have enjoyed as much...sadly, time + wear and tear took their toll on SW's abilities. S.,till, I didnt think they stunk up the joint or anything.

The night I saw them they TRULY stunk up the joint. People were booing not because they wanted Styx (minus Tommy) to take the stage, they were booing because they sounded horrible and showed ZERO showmanship.

I like kansas... With that said, there was not a single member playing that night that wanted to be in Minneapolis. They should of been embarrassed by their performance.

I liked them alot less after seeing their show. If their age had something to do with it, then stop performing live.

Styx's management should of demanded that Kansas's name be removed from the concert tickets.

They were AWEFUL!!!!!!!!
